A Nampo-dong lunch spot found while shopping at Lotte Gwangbok

Daidokoro Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch (다이도코로 롯데백화점 광복점) is a Japanese home-cooking restaurant on the 10th floor of Lotte Department Store Gwangbok. It was a weekday lunch, and I got hungry while shopping at the department store. I wanted something filling with warm rice, so I headed to Daidokoro, a Nampo-dong restaurant I'd had my eye on.

It's close to Nampo Station and inside the department store, so it was easy to eat right in the middle of shopping. Here's my weekday lunch review, along with the location, opening hours, what we ordered and the prices, the atmosphere and parking info.

Where is Daidokoro Gwangbok, and what are the opening hours?

Daidokoro is on the 10th floor of Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, at 2 Jungang-daero, Jung-gu, Busan, about 27 m from Exit 8 of Nampo Station. It's open daily 10:30–21:00, with last order at 20:00.

Being so close to Nampo Station made it easy to reach by public transport. Another plus: you can eat right inside the department store, so there's no need to go back outside. If you're planning shopping and lunch together in Nampo-dong or Gwangbok-dong, it keeps your route simple.

  • Last order | 20:00

We went at weekday lunchtime. After eating you can go straight back to browsing the department store, so it's a great way to get both meal and shopping done in one go.

What's the atmosphere like at Daidokoro Gwangbok?

The restaurant feels warm and cute, a nice place to sit down and have a relaxed lunch in the middle of shopping. Nampo-dong has so many places to eat that choosing lunch can actually be stressful, right? That day I was craving Japanese home cooking where you get to nibble a bit of everything, so I settled on Daidokoro.

It seemed less like a place for eating alone and more comfortable for a meal with family or kids, or a stop during a date.

What two people ordered, and the prices

The two of us ordered Set A for two at ₩42,000 (switching the drink to strawberry ade, +₩1,500), a blue lemonade at ₩4,000, and nekomamma (soy sauce egg rice) at ₩3,500. It was handy that we could check everything we ordered at a glance from the table.

  • └ Switch to strawberry ade | +₩1,500
  • Blue lemonade | ₩4,000
  • Nekomamma (soy sauce egg rice) | ₩3,500

We built the order around a set meant for two, then added drinks and the nekomamma, which made the spread even more varied.

Set A for two: lots of dishes on one tray

Set A for two lets you enjoy several dishes together on one table. Rather than ordering a bunch of things separately, we went with Set A, and it suited a day when I wanted to try a bit of this and a bit of that.

Eaten with warm rice, it made a pretty filling weekday lunch, and picking at different dishes was more fun than eating just one. If you're looking for a proper meal in Nampo-dong like I was, the set menu is a good place to start.

Nekomamma (soy sauce egg rice), ₩3,500 extra

Along with the set, we added nekomamma, the soy sauce egg rice. At ₩3,500 it's an easy add-on, and since we love warm rice dishes, it caught our eye.

Taking bites of the soy sauce egg rice between the main dishes made the meal feel even more like Japanese home cooking. It fit the day perfectly, when I wanted a comforting bowl of warm rice rather than anything flashy.

Strawberry ade and blue lemonade

We switched the Set A drink to strawberry ade for ₩1,500 extra, and also ordered a blue lemonade at ₩4,000. Sipping a cold ade between bites refreshed the palate and let us take the meal a bit more slowly.

Having both food and drinks in one place made it a satisfying lunch break in the middle of shopping.
