Busan sashimi restaurant with halibut fin for soju: Suseong Susan
In short
Suseong Susan is a mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and sashimi bibimbap restaurant by the sea in Sinho-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan. The order here was a half-and-half halibut and flounder mulhoe with a side of halibut fin sashimi, soju and beer, enjoyed more as a drinking spread than a meal. Slushy-cold broth, sashimi served on a separate plate and a roomy private parking lot are what make Suseong Susan worth the trip.

When you're craving a bowl of cool mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) in Sinho-dong, Gangseo-gu, Busan, this is a solid pick. It's Suseong Susan, a mulhoe and sashimi bibimbap spot in the Myeongji area. Sitting near Myeongji International City and the Sinho industrial complex, it's a convenient spot for locals, serving mulhoe, sashimi bibimbap, and a range of other raw fish dishes.

Inside Suseong Susan and what's at the self-serve bar
A clean layout with plenty of room
Inside, Suseong Susan is arranged with 2-top and 4-top tables, with space for around 60 people to eat at once. There can be a wait at peak times, so it's better to go without being in a rush.
The self-serve bar has chojang, soy sauce, and wasabi ready to mix to taste. Plenty of guests come for sashimi bibimbap too, not just mulhoe, so it's a good atmosphere if you want to enjoy both sashimi and mulhoe together in Sinho-dong.

What's on the menu at Suseong Susan?
The menu board
The menu is built around mulhoe and sashimi bibimbap, with a wide range of raw fish options. Mulhoe ranges from versions with a mix of several fish types to a half-and-half bowl combining halibut and flounder, so there was plenty to choose from depending on preference.
I also noticed abalone porridge on the menu, a good option if you're visiting with kids or with someone who doesn't eat much raw fish. It's not a mulhoe-only place — the menu is built to suit everyone at the table.

Half-and-half halibut and flounder mulhoe, with the sashimi on its own plate
The order
The main dish this time was the half-and-half halibut and flounder mulhoe. Alongside it, I also ordered the halibut fin sashimi as a side, plus one soju and one beer.
I liked that the sashimi arrived in a separate dish before the mulhoe, so you can taste the fish on its own first. After that, you drop the sashimi into the ice-cold broth to complete the mulhoe. The broth in particular was prepared slushy-cold, so it felt refreshing from the very first spoonful.

The side dishes served with the mulhoe were tidy and well put together, which sharpened the appetite even more.

Since it's a half-and-half combination of halibut and flounder, I got to compare the texture of both fish as I ate. At the end you can add thin wheat noodles, which made it filling enough to count as a full meal.

Halibut fin sashimi, the side dish we picked for drinks
Halibut fin sashimi, a great match for drinks
Mulhoe alone felt like it needed something extra, so I also ordered the halibut fin sashimi as a side.

The halibut fin has a completely different texture from the mulhoe, making it good for slow eating alongside drinks. Following a cool, tangy spoonful of mulhoe with a bite of fin sashimi was a great combination.
Since this visit was more about drinking than a full meal, pairing one mulhoe with a sashimi side dish worked out especially well.

Is Suseong Susan worth a visit? Final thoughts
Final thoughts and summary
On this visit to Suseong Susan, I ordered the half-and-half halibut and flounder mulhoe along with halibut fin sashimi, and took my time enjoying it with drinks.
Mulhoe made with halibut and flounder dropped into ice-cold broth suited the hot weather well, and the halibut fin sashimi worked nicely as a drinking snack. Easy parking and having the sashimi served separately were also strong points.
If you're in Sinho-dong or Myeongji in Gangseo-gu, Busan looking for a cool bowl of mulhoe and sashimi, Suseong Susan is worth keeping in mind — not just for a meal, but also for a casual drinking spot.
