Daeyeon-dong café: staff-pick milk bingsu & cream mochi, Taerae Queen
In short
Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch is a thread-style (taerae) bingsu dessert café in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan, right outside Exit 3 of Kyungsung University·Bugyeongdae Station. The writer ordered the staff-recommended Custom Taerae Bingsu in milk (9,900 won) with cereal, apple mango and chapssal-tteok (sweet rice cake) toppings, plus three new cream chapssal-tteok that are not on the menu board. Verdict: Taerae Queen's milk bingsu, made with 100% milk and no water, is a must-order, but only the chocolate cream chapssal-tteok is worth ordering again.

What kind of bingsu café is Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch?
Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch (타래퀸 경성대점) is a dessert café in Daeyeon, Busan, that serves thread-style bingsu (Korean shaved-ice dessert) made from 100% milk, with no water mixed in. I don't really eat bingsu much, but I suddenly craved it for the first time in ages, so I went to Taerae Queen haha
It was tasty because it's milk bingsu with no water added~ And since it's thread-style bingsu, it looks great too. The milk-based ice is shaved into fine strands and stacked layer upon layer, so the thin, thread-like ice grain piled up generously, strand by strand.

Taerae Queen atmosphere and seating

What else is on the menu at Taerae Queen besides bingsu?
Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch sells not only thread-style bingsu but also Taerae ice cream, coffee, tea and a variety of desserts. So even if you skip the bingsu, it's a good dessert café for ice cream with toppings like apple mango, Oreo, Lotus and honeycomb, or for drinks like americano, café latte, vanilla latte, green tea, ube latte, strawberry frappé and lemonade. (There is no decaf.)

The staff-recommended pick at Taerae Queen: milk taerae bingsu
The staff at Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch have tried everything on the menu, and they say the milk taerae bingsu is the best one. I asked which menu item they'd recommend, you see? So I went with the staff pick and ordered the following.
- Custom Taerae Bingsu (milk) ₩9,900
- Extra cereal topping ₩1,300
- Extra apple mango topping ₩3,000
- Extra chewy rice cake (chapssal-tteok) topping ₩1,500

Taerae Queen Wi-Fi, restroom and review event
For the Wi-Fi at Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch, just scan the QR code in front of the order desk! The restroom is outside the shop, around the corner~
Also, if you write a Naver receipt review or a Google Maps review, you can join a review lucky-draw event. I couldn't be bothered, so I didn't join haha, but first prize is a shop voucher worth ₩50,000? Isn't that great?

How were the milk taerae bingsu portion and topping combo?
The Taerae Queen Custom Taerae Bingsu (milk) was a good size for two people. With the cereal, apple mango and chewy rice cake toppings on top, it looked really pretty~ The new strawberry/melon/chocolate chapssal-tteok (chewy rice cake) were frozen desserts, eaten cold.

As expected... milk bingsu never fails. hahahaha It tastes exactly the way you'd imagine. Milk bingsu can't possibly be bad. And since it's 100% milk base with no water, it's rich, nutty and full of flavor. You can see the ice grain well because it's thread-style, right?

Honest review: the rice cake and cereal were good, the apple mango was disappointing
Here's my honest review: first of all, Taerae Queen's milk bingsu is very delicious. I absolutely recommend the milk thread bingsu.
The chapssal-tteok topping went well too. It's the chewy rice cake taste you'd expect, and it goes nicely with milk bingsu. The cereal was fine too. Cereal and bingsu go well together, right~
But! The frozen apple mango was a little sour and too cold for me haha. Bingsu melts in your mouth so it's fine, but you have to chew the apple mango before swallowing, so...

Which of the 3 new cream chapssal-tteok is worth ordering?
For Taerae Queen's new cream chapssal-tteok, I definitely recommend the chocolate one. The strawberry, melon and chocolate cream chapssal-tteok are brand-new, so they weren't on the menu board~ As you can see in the photo, they're filled with strawberry, melon and chocolate cream.
The strawberry and melon weren't great. The chocolate was good~ It's a nice dessert for when your mouth is bored, and I'd happily eat the chocolate one again.

What I'd order next time at Taerae Queen
Next time I visit Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch in Daeyeon-dong, Busan, I think I'll order the milk taerae bingsu with cocoa balls, chewy rice cake, injeolmi (roasted soybean powder rice cake) and cube cheesecake as toppings. I've never tried ube in my life, so I'm a little curious about the ube latte, and I'd order the new chocolate cream chapssal-tteok again too. I hope my honest review helps you enjoy some delicious bingsu~ haha
