A Daeyeon-dong pork soup restaurant open until 2:30am
I went to Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap, a Daeyeon-dong gukbap (rice soup) spot that stays open late. Pukyong National University and Kyungsung University are both around here, plus lots of apartment complexes nearby, so it's a neighborhood with plenty of great gukbap places, haha. Today I'm trying Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap for the first time! We ate in the daytime, but since it's open until 2:30am, it's a great place for a hangover soup or to finish off a night of drinking.

It's close to Exit 1 of Kyungsung Univ.·Pukyong Univ. Station, right across from Yeongjin Dwaeji Gukbap. Maybe because it's right by the schools, noodle and rice refills are unlimited, and they even give you a welcome glass of Jipyeong makgeolli (rice wine), haha. The air conditioning was on full blast, and in this weather that is seriously important..

Dining room and air conditioning in summer
I liked the bright lighting and clean interior. A sign said the air conditioning was running at full power, and it really was super cool inside, so eating hot gukbap in summer wasn't uncomfortable at all.

It was my first visit, but seeing all the things posted on the walls, I felt I could trust this place! Maybe because of the welcome makgeolli, I kept seeing tables having makgeolli with their gukbap from the middle of the day, haha.

Menu and prices: pork soup 9,500 won, boiled pork set 13,000 won
The menu has pork, sundae (blood sausage), offal, mixed, and pork jowl gukbap, plus the boiled pork set. For drinking snacks there's boiled pork, jeongol (hot pot), dumplings, and a sampler of sundae and boiled pork.

You order by tablet, which was easy. We got one basic pork soup and one boiled pork set, and since I was thirsty, a cold drink too. Order done!

Self-serve bar and free noodle refills
The self-serve bar is kept really clean, right? There were garlic chives, chili peppers, onions, garlic, kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), ssamjang (dipping paste), and salted shrimp.

The free noodles were plentiful too.

The basic side dishes are set out first, so if you run short while eating, just grab more from the self-serve bar. The sides look neat too, right? haha

The food came out fast, and once everything arrived, the table looked like this.
Pork soup (9,500 won): milky broth with no gamey smell
Pork soup ₩9,500

The pork soup has a milky white broth that's clean with no gamey smell, the kind of taste almost anyone would like, haha. The shop is clean and the gukbap is clean too! And it's packed with meat, lol. The meat is sliced thin, so it goes down easily, chomp chomp chomp.

I also put the complimentary noodles into the soup and ate them.

I fished out the meat and ate it with onion and ssamjang,

and with kimchi too, lol. The meat just kept coming no matter how much I ate, so it's a hearty, filling meal. And the earthenware bowl was filled to the brim with broth. Such generosity!
Boiled pork set (13,000 won): sliced pork with pork jowl
Boiled pork set ₩13,000

If you want to focus on the meat, I recommend the boiled pork set. The boiled pork is tender and chewy, and it feels a little different from the meat in the soup, you know?

I turned the broth of the boiled pork set slightly red to make it a little spicy. There's dadaegi (seasoned chili paste) and pepper on the table, so add them to taste!

Let's try the boiled pork covered in scallions too.

The ratio of fat to lean meat was just right, so it was rich and savory.

It even had pork jowl mixed in, my favorite cut, which made it even better. First visit to Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap and it was a success, delicious! No fuss, just a clean, straightforward style!!! Next time I should come try the sundae or offal, haha.
Geumsu Dwaeji Gukbap Gyeongseong-Pukyongdae Branch, a Daeyeon-dong, Busan gukbap favorite: welcome Jipyeong makgeolli and unlimited noodles and rice, all good.
