In short

Today, I visited Camel Orzo, long known in Sangmu-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju for its pizza, pasta, and steak. It is in the Switzen shopping complex, the same building as Gourmet Square, and I had always wanted to try it because it was always busy. I came for a family gathering, and everyone was happy with the meal, so I wanted to share it.
Camel Orzo hours and parking
Camel Orzo, a popular choice in Sangmu-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju for blind dates, dates, and formal family introductions, is open from 11:00 to 23:00. You can use the Switzen parking lot or Nice Park parking lot, and they provided about two hours of parking support with a meal.
This is the exterior of Camel Orzo, a popular lunch and dinner spot in Sangmu-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju. The exterior was decorated beautifully, just as you would expect from an Italian restaurant.

Camel Orzo is also a good place for wine in Sangmu-dong, Gwangju, with a range of wines and wine glasses on hand.

I thought it would be nice for couples, get-togethers, or company dinners as well.

Camel Orzo menu and our order
Here is the menu at Camel Orzo, a popular spot where people wait in Sangmu-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju. I chose the red shrimp bisque pasta for ₩22,000 here,

They also have ice cream, tiramisu, and more.

There are lunch-set and happy-hour menus too, so those visiting at the right time might want to try a set menu.

Camel Orzo, also a good spot for soju and beer in Sangmu-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, had a truly wide wine selection.

They also sold café drinks such as coffee, and it looked as though there was a discount for takeaway. We ordered the Fig Berry Jambon Ricotta Salad for ₩19,200 here.

They offered a wide range of Italian-style dishes I think of, including calzone, pasta, and paella.

On this page, we ordered Camel Orzo’s signature Camel Margherita Pizza for ₩19,500. My whole purpose today was to eat pizza, so I ordered it right away, haha.

They also sold steak and Italian desserts, and I will have to try the steak sometime later.

The country of origin information and other details were clearly listed, which gave me confidence.

Fig ricotta salad and red shrimp bisque pasta
This salad was topped with seasonal figs. I chose balsamic for the dressing. From the salad greens to the cheese, everything was made with fresh ingredients, and everyone was pleased with it. I definitely highly recommend the salad.
Since balsamic is vinegar-based, I recommend adding it little by little according to your taste.
Next came the red shrimp bisque pasta. It is a new Camel Orzo menu item featuring red shrimp, and with the seafood, it tasted a little like creamy jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup)?

It is a little pricey, but it was delicious enough that I would order it again on another visit. There were pieces of shrimp throughout, which went so well with the pasta and gave it a wonderful texture.

How was the Camel Margherita pizza?
Finally, the pizza—the reason I came to an Italian restaurant—arrived. Margherita pizza is topped with tomato sauce, fresh cheese, and basil leaves,

It does not have lots of toppings like a combination pizza, but that is exactly why I think the quality of the ingredients on top matters especially much.

The Margherita pizza at Camel Orzo, a great brunch and pizza spot in Gwangju, was delicious from the dough to every topping. I can only marvel at how they age the dough to get that texture.

They will also give you Parmesan and hot sauce if you ask, so we finished every bite. I visited Camel Orzo, a good place for gatherings and company dinners in Sangmu-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju. I recommend it to anyone looking for an Italian restaurant or brunch spot with a nice atmosphere in Gwangju, or a good pizza and pasta restaurant for a date or blind date.
