Busanjin Korean restaurant for level 4 ribs: Sinchon Yangpuni
In short
Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, serving spicy braised ribs with selectable heat levels. I paired level 4 ribs with Jeolla-do aged kimchi, glass noodles, and steamed egg. Verdict: a satisfyingly fiery, umami-rich combination worth returning for.

I visited Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch, a great place to go when I’m craving something spicy in Seomyeon, Busan! There are so many good restaurants in Seomyeon, but I wanted spicy food that day to blow off some stress, so I chose yangpuni galbijjim (braised ribs served in a large metal bowl)! To give you the conclusion first: level 4 was much hotter than I expected, but it had that addictive flavor that kept me reaching for more✨ The Jeolla-do aged kimchi topping is a must!

The annex, main building, and restaurant atmosphere
This is the annex of Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch! It is across from the main building, and the neon-sign façade really stands out✨ There is also a Tabling waitlist kiosk in front, so keep that in mind!

Head into the alley and you will find the main building! Its exterior has the feel of a place that has held its spot for a long time. It absolutely gives off beloved-local-restaurant vibes👍🏻

Rather than feeling overly flashy or hectic, the interior felt like stepping into a long-running local favorite! Every table has a gas burner, so you can keep the braised ribs warm and bubbling as you eat. It seemed like a great space to share spicy food and a drink with friends or a date, too! There are first and second floors, and the upstairs space was quite roomy as well!
Yangpuni braised ribs menu and my level 4 order

The signature yangpuni braised ribs are ₩14,000 per person. Toppings range from ₩4,000 to ₩23,000, while side dishes range from ₩2,500 to ₩10,000. You can choose heat levels 1 through 4 for the braised ribs and add all kinds of toppings and extra noodles.
- Yangpuni braised ribs for 2, level 4: ₩28,000
- Jeolla-do aged kimchi topping: ₩7,000
- Glass noodles: ₩2,500
- Steamed egg: ₩3,000
I ordered braised ribs for two at level 4! I think of myself as pretty good with spicy food, so of course I went for the highest level🔥

The banchan (Korean side dishes) included pickled onions, acorn jelly, perilla leaves, mayonnaise, and corn cheese! Each person also gets a bowl of soup to soothe the stomach before the spicy food✨
How hot were the level 4 braised ribs?
I like spicy food, so I decided to take on the challenge, but honestly, this was not an easy heat level from beginning to end! The large bowl arrived generously piled with ribs, bean sprouts, shredded scallions, and more. Once it began to boil at the table, a staff member cut up the ribs for us, which was so convenient! The red sauce had really soaked into the ribs, and it was not just sharply spicy—it was spicy with plenty of umami, so I kept reaching for more!

Definitely add the Jeolla-do aged kimchi
There was a very generous amount of Jeolla-do aged kimchi! I can confirm: this was the real deal! The tangy, refreshing aged kimchi soaked up the spicy sauce and turned it into a truly delicious spicy pork rib kimchi stew. Please, please add it✨

One tender piece of rib topped with aged kimchi! The thick cylindrical rice cakes coated in sauce paired surprisingly well, too. The crisp bean sprouts and shredded scallions were little treats in their own right👍🏻

I made a perilla-leaf wrap loaded with ribs, aged kimchi, bean sprouts, shredded scallions, and plenty of mayonnaise!

Fluffy steamed egg is not optional with spicy food—it is essential, right? The savory, nutty steamed egg was perfect for calming the heat👏🏻

Finally, when I paid and headed out, there were xylitol candies, so I had one. It felt nice and refreshing for my mouth. Such a thoughtful touch👍🏻
For properly spicy braised ribs in Seomyeon
When I want properly spicy braised ribs in Seomyeon, I think Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch will come to mind from now on! I ordered level 4 this time, and even I, someone who handles spicy food pretty well, found it plenty hot🔥 But it was not just aggressively spicy—the deeply absorbed, umami-rich sauce on the ribs kept me eating. Adding glass noodles and Jeolla-do aged kimchi made it even more generous, and the steamed egg was a great pairing to ease the heat✨ This was a Seomyeon braised-ribs favorite I would revisit whenever I need spicy food to really blow off some stress :)
