Iksan pork cutlet restaurant near Wonkwang University: kimchi nabe
In short
Wonkwang Katsu is a pork cutlet and Western-style Korean restaurant on Iksan University Road, right in front of the main gate of Wonkwang University in Iksan, Jeonbuk. The meal here was the pork cutlet kimchi nabe (15,500 won) and the spicy cheese-loaded pork cutlet (16,500 won), with a half-katsu side added for just 500 to 1,000 won more and a self-serve bar stocked with soup and toast. Thin breading over thick pork makes Wonkwang Katsu the first place that comes to mind for cutlet in Iksan.

Today I'm reviewing a famous Iksan spot — a restaurant with a really long history on Iksan University Road. I've loved this place since my college days back when I lived off yum-guk. It's right in front of Wonkwang University so it's super accessible, and the quality is genuinely great, which is why I couldn't help going often. Let's get into Wonkwang Katsu, an Iksan pork cutlet favorite!

Inside Wonkwang Katsu: seating and baby chairs
Inside Wonkwang Katsu, tables run along both sides like this, and it's surprisingly spacious with plenty of seats! Even when it's busy, the tables are laid out so neatly that it never feels chaotic — more like well organized.

Baby chairs and wide tables are also available.

The self-serve bar with soup and toast
✔️The self-serve bar has side dishes like kimchi, kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), pickles, salad, plus aprons and small plates ready to go.

✔️And of course, no Western-style meal is complete without soup — they've got that too, plus broth and even toast! The side dishes feel so generous and filling. Also the self-serve bar itself is really clean. (This place is a soup destination too.)

Pretty clean, right? The mood is soft and pleasant too — great for a blind date, and perfect as a meeting spot in Iksan.
👉🏻Definitely check out the events!! Wonkwang Katsu is a beloved Iksan University Road restaurant that has even won awards at the Jeonbuk Food Culture Festival!!

For reference, here are the sides!

- Pork cutlet kimchi nabe ₩15,500 — side sirloin half-katsu ₩500

Signature pork cutlet kimchi nabe, 15,500 won
✨The kimchi nabe looks incredible — a visual that lives up to the 'Iksan favorite' name. Rice, danmuji (pickled radish), and even pineapple for dessert make this a killer spread. One bowl of this and you're completely full.

Packed with vegetables too. The bean sprouts give it a refreshing edge. If you love kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), this dish comes highly recommended.

Refreshing, tangy, and spicy. You'll polish off a bowl of rice without even noticing — that's Wonkwang Katsu's signature kimchi nabe katsu!!!! Egg, kimchi, and pork cutlet — you know that combo never fails.
Spice-averse eaters can handle it too. It's the kind of katsu that keeps popping into your head.

Spicy cheese-loaded pork cutlet, 16,500 won
Next up, my absolute favorite. 👉🏻The spicy cheese-loaded katsu — I got the cheese side. This is a serious deal too, since adding just ₩1,000 gets you a half-katsu on top. That's amazing value.
See how plump this cutlet is? The quality of Wonkwang Katsu's pork cutlets is genuinely amazing. I can say that with full confidence!

This dish's kicker is the bean sprouts, cheese, and perilla leaves!!! It's a flavor that keeps you going without getting sick of it — one you can only get here at Wonkwang Katsu.

Real mozzarella cheese, generous and nutty, keeps coming through while the breading stays crispy and the meat inside stays juicy. A charming cheese katsu that lets you enjoy every flavor at once.

This is exactly why I can't quit this place. I order it for delivery often too. Above all, the meat is hearty and thick, yet incredibly tender.
The sirloin half-katsu side for 500 won more
Next: the ₩500 worth of happiness that is the sirloin katsu.
Seriously, can you see this? The thickness of the meat is ridiculous — the breading is thin but the meat inside is incredibly hearty. The first bite is crispy, then it goes soft with the juices completely intact. Confirmed Iksan pork cutlet favorite, right?

Cut into bite-sized pieces with rice — pure dopamine in your mouth... (ugh, now I want it again.) The cutlet itself is already so delicious that this just adds more deliciousness on top. You have to try this one!

A place where the quality is different from the breading all the way to the meat. If pork cutlet is your soul food, you'll regret not going here. If you're looking for a great pork cutlet restaurant, write this one down 📋 ✔️I recommend Wonkwang Katsu, an Iksan pork cutlet favorite!
