Why we chose Eggroom for a brunch date in Dongpyeon-maeul

Eggroom is a popular brunch café in Dongpyeon-maeul, Anyang, so I picked it as the first stop of a Friday date with my husband. Ahh, time alone with my husband, finally! Thanks to my mother-in-law watching the baby, we got to enjoy a Friday date. We wondered how to spend the time, and decided to start with a good café in Dongpyeon-maeul. Brunch date, here we gooo! Arrived at Eggroom. Dongpyeon-maeul really is a great place for dates, I thought.

There's a park right near Eggroom, so a walk after brunch is the best. Peaceful Dongpyeon-maeul date course, highly recommended!

Eggroom at opening time: what is the interior like?

Eggroom has outdoor tables too, but the morning breeze was chilly that day, so we sat inside. The weather was nice and I considered the outdoor tables, but the morning wind was a bit cold, and since we came right at opening, we could eat quietly indoors.

The interior is bright, clean and cozy, perfect for a brunch date, right?? The staff were all so kind and greeted us warmly, so it was a lovely café outing.

Eggroom drinks: can you switch to decaf?

Eggroom has a wide range of drinks, and you can switch to decaf. Let's take a look at the brunch menu at this Dongpyeon-maeul favorite! First, the drinks are varied, so there's plenty of choice. And being able to switch to decaf is a stroke of genius. For a breastfeeding mom like me, decaf is a ray of light.

Eggroom egg tarts and desserts: can you get them gift-wrapped?

True to the name, egg tarts are a popular item at Eggroom, and they can be gift-wrapped. They look amazing and taste amazing... They remind me of Macau! Someday I'll go to Portugal just for egg tarts! Anyway, gift wrapping is available, which is great.

Eggroom also has yellow cheese cookies, pavlova and butter bars. There are cute candles too, so it's a café with desserts in Dongpyeon-maeul that's good for preparing a gift!

Decaf almond cream mocha and fruity ade: how did they taste?

At Eggroom we ordered an almond cream mocha (swapped to decaf), a fruity ade and an iced americano. Ta-da, we found a seat and started our proper brunch! I got greedy with drinks, haha, and ordered everything that looked like a signature.

Mmm, I had the almond cream mocha as decaf, and wow, the sweet whipped cream just melts away and lifted my mood. The mocha syrup is rich and there's a ton of chocolate drizzle, so my sugar fix was complete (healing).

The fruity ade, a combo of strawberry, passion fruit and pineapple, is so tangy and sweet. It goes well with the brunch dishes, and I wanted to drink it again and again.

Eggroom's signature eggs Benedict

Eggroom's signature eggs Benedict comes with shrimp, egg and an English muffin, with arugula on the side. Ta-da, the signature eggs Benedict! The shrimp is well seasoned and the egg is rich, so eating it in one big three-layer bite with the English muffin is so delicious.

The arugula makes it refreshing to eat.

Eggroom basil risotto: filling enough for a meal?

Eggroom's basil risotto is the writer's recommendation, and it was more filling than expected, so it works as a proper meal. The basil pesto itself is so good that I kept scooping up the risotto. Smooth and fragrant, a recommended dish!

The rice grains aren't overcooked and keep a pleasant texture, so it's nice to chew, and overall it's smooth and rich, easy to eat without feeling heavy! I think it would be good to order if you come with kids. The sauce soaks well into the rice, so you taste plenty of flavor in every bite, and it isn't harshly salty or greasy, so you keep reaching for more! I'd assumed brunch meant something light, but the risotto was more filling than expected and good to order as a meal.

It came with poached egg, shrimp, arugula and grilled mushrooms, so it looked appetizing from the start, and it was light yet the sauce blended well. They say French toast is a popular item along with the eggs Benedict, so I want to come back and try it! A Dongpyeon-maeul brunch spot I'd like to revisit.

If you're looking for a cozy, bright brunch café in Gwanyang-dong or Dongpyeon-maeul, I recommend Eggroom! The dishes look cute and taste good, and especially, the drinks are really amazing and go well with the food. Totally satisfied with brunch at Eggroom as a Dongpyeon-maeul date course!
