Seooreung Chinese restaurant with charging ports and hair tie self-bar

In short

Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a Chinese restaurant in a standalone building on Seooreung-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. After work the writer ordered jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), soft tofu jjamppong, Sichuan tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and jjamppong fried mandu, then picked up a hair tie and used the charging port at the self-bar. Spotless hygiene and noodles that never went soggy make Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch worth a return trip.

With the cool breeze lately, I kept craving spicy jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth... so after work I headed over to Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch (짬뽕지존 서오릉점)! It's a standalone building with a big parking lot, so even new drivers could park easily.

The entrance at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch and 10% off takeout

At the entrance there was a table sign including soldiers and a banner offering 10% off for takeout orders! Eating in is best for those who serve our country, but I think it's a really nice perk for anyone who can't step out easily.

Looking at the menu board by the entrance made me drool a little... The table order system let me adjust the spice level, which I loved!

Inside Jjamppong Jijeon: seating for solo diners and groups

The restaurant felt clean with bright interiors and lighting. It's very spacious, but low walls and pillars divide the space, so there was little interference between neighboring tables — great for focusing on the meal and conversation with your group without feeling self-conscious. Tables come in 2-, 4-person, and larger sizes, so it seemed low-pressure for solo dining and also suitable for group gatherings.

Once seated, they brought out jjachai and danmuji (pickled radish) — the water and danmuji came packaged, which felt hygienic. The individual plates and sauce containers at each table were also very neatly arranged.

Self-bar with rice, side dishes, hair ties and charging ports

The self zone had rice and various side dishes laid out, and this area was spotless too, haha. If you're looking for a hygienic spot among Seooreung restaurants, come try Jjamppong Jijeon! They don't reuse food, and they even assign staff to clean specific areas of the restaurant — that level of dedication to hygiene makes it great to bring along the elders too!

Self-bar with hair ties and a charging port

The self-bar has hair ties for customers with long hair and a sub charging port for electronics~ It's a thoughtful little touch, but exactly the kind of service modern people need — I was so grateful!

Ordering jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, Sichuan tangsuyuk and jjamppong fried mandu

Jjamppong pairs so perfectly with soju........ isn't that just a match made in heaven?! We ordered jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, Sichuan tangsuyuk, and jjamppong fried mandu.

Cold-aged noodles and the soft tofu jjamppong

The noodles for jjajangmyeon and jjamppong are apparently low-temperature aged... maybe that's why they were extra bouncy and chewy! No flour smell at all, and the thickness was exactly what my family likes — really great.

The soft tofu jjamppong had big chunks of soft tofu, which mellowed out the spiciness a bit into a softer flavor. Plus, using 100% domestic red pepper powder gave it a clean taste — spicy but not overwhelmingly so, the kind of flavor you keep craving!

How spicy is the jjamppong at Jjamppong Jijeon? Milder than expected

My jjamppong was less spicy than I expected, but deep without being heavy — a clean spiciness with a strong seafood aroma, the kind of flavor that calls for soju... so next time I'll try one or two levels spicier! A single quail egg made every bite fun, and I was won over again by the generous amount of seafood.

Sichuan tangsuyuk and the shredded onion that makes it

Since I usually eat plain sticky-rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), I tried the Sichuan version instead — it had no off flavors and tasted like spicy-sweet seasoned fried chicken, something anyone of any age could enjoy. And what I thought was cabbage salad on the side turned out to be shredded onion... genius move! Taking a bite of onion between pieces cleansed my palate so well.

The tangsuyuk also had sweet potato and pineapple in it, doubling up the sweetness — sweet through and through!!

Jjamppong fried mandu, dumplings with a spicy twist

I was curious about the jjamppong fried mandu (dumplings), and the combo of crispy batter that stayed crunchy even after time passed with a not-at-all-greasy, spicy mandu filling that carried a subtle smoky char was so good I kept reaching for more!

Noodles that never went soggy: would I return to Jjamppong Jijeon?

Slurp, slurp~ The noodles didn't go soggy at all the whole meal, so I enjoyed it deliciously to the last bite! My only regret was drinking water instead of soju since I was driving — otherwise, nothing to complain about, and I'd definitely return to this Seooreung favorite, Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch.
