Goyang Chinese restaurant with potato jjajangmyeon and crab fried rice
In short
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the Seooreung restaurant strip in Goyang, Gyeonggi, open daily from 7am to 10pm. On this visit with a baby and the writer's parents, the table included jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), jjajangmyeon with big chunks of potato, crab fried rice, sticky-rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and jjamppong fried mandu, with the fried rice broth swapped for egg soup so the baby could eat too. Between the unlimited side-dish and rice self-bar, the dessert tea zone and the large parking lot, Jjamppong Jijeon is an easy place to bring the whole family back to.

Jjamppong Jijeon on the Seooreung restaurant strip: full even on a weekday evening
Today I went to Jjamppong Jijeon, a Seooreung favorite known for its jjamppong. It's one of my go-to places — it's on the Seooreung restaurant strip, and word has clearly gotten around, because even on a weekday evening the place was nearly full. Lots of babies, lots of families eating together. The jjamppong is genuinely delicious. I didn't realize it opens at 7am every day — it'd be great for breakfast or for a hangover-soup run too.

How ordering works: table kiosks at Jjamppong Jijeon
You order through the kiosk at your table! Today we ordered jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, crab fried rice, and tangsuyuk. We got the crab fried rice hoping to share it with the baby, but unfortunately it seemed to have a bit of spice in it — a fail on that front!

Jjamppong Jijeon's jjamppong is genuinely delicious. They gave us the tangsuyuk dip-style, sauce on the side. The jjajangmyeon seemed to have potato in it — big, generous chunks that made for great texture too.

What the crab fried rice at Jjamppong Jijeon is like
Delicious, but a shame we couldn't share it with the baby! The crab fried rice was tasty enough to eat on its own, no toppings needed.

Tangsuyuk with the batter peeled off for the baby
The tangsuyuk is genuinely great too. To give some to the baby, I peeled off the fried coating and tried it — the meat was thick and good, so the baby ate it well too. There were also sweet potato fritters, so I gave some of those as well :) Tangsuyuk is best eaten hot, and with sauce that was exactly my style, it was delicious.

Why Jjamppong Jijeon's jjamppong broth beats delivery
Jjamppong Jijeon's signature jjamppong is truly delicious. The broth is refreshing, not greasy, not heavy — and packed with scallops, squid, and all kinds of seafood, so it's on a completely different level from delivery jjamppong. The broth is genuinely amazing.

Swapping the fried rice broth for egg soup: easy baby food
The fried rice came with pineapple, which I ate as a little dessert to finish haha. Everything was plated neatly and cleanly, nice to look at and easy to eat. You can also swap the fried rice broth for egg soup, which paired with self-bar rice is great for feeding the baby.

Why you should always order the sticky-rice tangsuyuk
Do I even need to say it — just order the tangsuyuk haha. I already love tangsuyuk in general, but Jjamppong Jijeon's is even better. I think it's because it comes out fresh. Good meat, and the coating has that chewy sticky-rice tangsuyuk texture — it's so good. The chewy coating and the not-too-strong sauce mean kids can eat it happily too, which makes it great for a family outing.

A Seooreung Chinese restaurant with no parking worries
If you're looking for a great restaurant, come to Jjamppong Jijeon in Seooreung. There's plenty of parking so you don't have to worry about that, and let's be honest — ordering Chinese food delivery at home never tastes that great. At Jjamppong Jijeon you can eat it so much better.

Back with my parents, who loved the jjamppong
My family enjoyed it so much last time that this time I brought my parents along, and they said the jjamppong was delicious. Great place to come eat with family haha.

Jjamppong fried mandu at Jjamppong Jijeon
I also tried the jjamppong fried mandu — the filling inside has that jjamppong flavor, and it was delicious. If you like fried mandu, I recommend this one, since it's not greasy!

Unlimited side dishes at the self-bar and the dessert tea zone
At the self-bar you can help yourself to as much side dish and rice as you like, which made it easy to feed the baby too. Since the side dishes are unlimited, I grabbed some of the jachai (pickled mustard greens) because it was so good haha.

For dessert there's a tea zone with a variety of teas, which is even better haha. I think there was iced tea too, along with omija and plum tea — we had a sweet cup of tea for dessert before heading home. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Seooreung, I recommend Jjamppong Jijeon.
