What Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch is like
Mr. Squid Yongin Bojeong Branch (미스터오징어 용인보정점) is a sashimi restaurant and drinking spot at the start of the Bojeong-dong cafe street in Yongin. It is open Mon–Fri 16:00–04:00 and Sat–Sun 15:00–04:00. Parking is 2–3 cars in front of the shop, and the rest can use the Bojeong public parking lot. You can reserve through Naver Place, and takeout, delivery and Yongin local currency are all available.
Hi, this is Mittungi's Day! I visited Mr. Squid, a sashimi place on the Bojeong-dong cafe street. If you like a drink, you probably already know it! It's a famous spot that is packed every time I go, haha. There aren't many sashimi-and-drinks places on the Bojeong-dong cafe street, so I recommend it if you're looking for a place for a get-together, a group dinner or a date.
Besides the signature live squid sashimi, you can enjoy regular sashimi like flatfish, rockfish, red sea bream, young flounder, mullet and salmon, plus seasonal items like large yellowtail, gwamegi (semi-dried herring or saury), grilled king prawns, gizzard shad and oysters. I had the live squid set, and I'll show you the review with photos. Go Go
Interior and seating
The shop is at the start of the Bojeong-dong cafe street. Here's the interior.

There's group seating too, so it's perfect if you're looking for a place for a company dinner. After work hours, reserved groups came in and were happily drinking away, haha.

The window seats are comfortable sofa seats, and they feel like a half-outdoor terrace, great for eating sashimi.
What we ordered and the prices

Please see the photos for the full menu. This is what I ordered.
- Live squid set ₩62,000
- Steamed egg ₩4,000
- Seafood ramyeon ₩8,000
Side dishes and the free steamed egg

Here's the side dish setup: seaweed soup, aged white kimchi, gosari-style seaweed (kkosiraegi), and corn mayo salad. The white kimchi is aged, so putting it on the sashimi together with wasabi was seriously amazing, ugh!

Even the regular water is hovenia fruit tea, so it's nutty and tasty. If you're drinking, you can sip it in between to ease the hangover, haha.

This is the free side too, steamed egg (gyeran-jjim)! I liked it so much that I ordered one more, and it's waaay bigger. At ₩4,000 it's great value, so I recommend it. I'll show you below.
You know how you can't resist a bubbling hot spoonful of steamed egg in the middle of eating sashimi.

What's in the ₩62,000 live squid set
Ta-da. Today's main dish, the squid set, has arrived.

Mmm, drooling. Fresh squid sashimi and even fried squid! The sashimi, from the left in order, is barley mullet, flatfish, salmon, barley mullet (again), rockfish and flatfish fin. Nice variety, right? haha

My heart is pounding. It's a generous spread. It looks like this.

Here's the sashimi up close! It was so fresh and so good. Come into my mouth and wait for me!

Squid sashimi! It's been a while since I had squid sashimi and it was so good. Can you feel the freshness? hahaha Of course, at a squid place, squid sashimi is a must (?)

Fried squid is included in the set too! Totally great value, right? haha The batter is super thin and crispy, which is exactly my style. Personally I hate it when the batter is thick and you can see raw flour dough inside, but there was none of that.

The aged white kimchi wrap was the best
The aged white kimchi served as a side at Mr. Squid is so good that you must get refills. Okay everyone, here come the single-bite shots >_<

Ta-da. First, the chewy squid sashimi. And then, chomp, flatfish, of course, a basic.

Two pieces of barley mullet, chomp. In between, smoothly send it down with the steamed egg.

Please try barley mullet on aged kimchi with wasabi, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and radish sprouts, hahaha.

Rockfish, ugh! My favorite, flatfish and rockfish, I can't resist, two pieces gulp. This is a cross-section of the fried squid. See how thin the batter is? And the corn mayo, chomp.

How big is a ₩4,000 extra steamed egg?
Extra steamed egg order, ₩4,000!

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha I took this to show you how big it is, can you tell? Anyway, it comes in a really big earthenware pot. On the right is the refilled aged white kimchi, looks so good, right?

Salmon on aged kimchi is also delicious, not greasy at all.

My boyfriend's love: flatfish fin (engawa).

Finishing with ₩8,000 seafood ramyeon
For the finish I wavered between maeuntang (spicy fish stew) and seafood ramyeon, and picked seafood ramyeon! It had lots of ingredients, and the broth wasn't very spicy and was refreshing, hahaha.
Ta-da. It even had a small crab in it, so the broth was full of seafood flavor >_<
That's my review of the Mr. Squid sashimi set with flatfish, rockfish, barley mullet, salmon and squid sashimi on the Bojeong-dong cafe street.
