In short
Mayway is a Chinese restaurant in Gwangsan, Gwangju, serving jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and seafood nurungji-tang. My family visited for a relaxed weekend lunch and ordered samsun gan-jjajang, brisket jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and single-serving seafood nurungji-tang for 15,900 won. Mayway in Gwangju, where I went with my family

I heard there was a great jjamppong spot in Cheomdan, so I went to Mayway (메이웨이). My family and I had a leisurely weekend lunch~^^ It is located in the direction of Mustard Seed Church, beside Lotte Mart.

Mayway has a neat exterior. With the weather pleasantly cool lately, I went in thinking I would try the seafood nurungji-tang (scorched-rice soup). There is also a great-value ₩12,900 set meal for one with jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), so you can taste a little of each menu item. Slurp, nom nom :)

QR ordering and the refill corner
There is a waiting system, and you order by verifying the menu QR code. They gave us thin sweet-potato fritters as a service item—we gobbled them up in no time, haha.

The refill corner has tasty scallion kimchi, raw onion, and macaroni corn salad. There is a rice cooker beside it too, so you can have unlimited rice refills~^^

The high ceiling made it feel open, and I liked how clean and comfortable it was. People around us were ordering lots of the stone-plate jjajang, which they said was spicy. Our kids are on team jjajangmyeon, my husband is on team jjamppong, and I am on team seafood nurungji-tang. The four-person tables were nicely spaced, and there is a large TV too.

We ordered by QR code, then dipped raw onion into chunjang (black bean paste) for a fresh, crunchy bite. The kids were completely focused on the macaroni corn salad, lol. I absolutely fell for the scallion kimchi and, since it had been a while, happily ate it in big bites alongside everything~^^

Samsun gan-jjajang, brisket jjamppong, and tangsuyuk
Don't the brisket jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and samsun gan-jjajang all look delicious? The gan-jjajang was clean-tasting—not greasy or overly sweet. It also had a variety of toppings, including shrimp and scallops. Such a well-rounded dish.
The brisket jjamppong had a smoky wok flavor and tasted refreshing and deep. The tangsuyuk was crisp outside yet pleasantly chewy, and we dipped it in the tangy sauce. Both the pork and batter were fresh and tasty. Mayway really is a great jjamppong spot in Cheomdan!

A generous single serving of seafood nurungji-tang
My long-awaited seafood nurungji-tang arrived bubbling away, hehe. It says it is one serving, but it was truly generous. They pour the soup over the nurungji, and it was so fun picking out the squid, webfoot octopus, shrimp, wood ear mushrooms, mushrooms, bell peppers, bok choy, and more. Ahhh~~
This seafood nurungji-tang suited Korean tastes, with garlicky fragrance and savory seafood flavor that made it impossible to put down my spoon!!! It was nice and thick at first, then refreshing to enjoy as a broth from the middle onward~^^ Could this be seafood nurungji-tang that naturally cures a hangover?
I was honestly so full, but I did not want to miss a bit of it, so I fought through and scraped up every last drop of soup! It seemed worth recommending as a nourishing autumn meal too. I enjoyed the texture of the fresh ingredients while fishing out all those plentiful seafood toppings.
Now you can have a nourishing meal at the Chinese restaurant Mayway too. The single-serving seafood nurungji-tang is ₩15,900, and it is a dish that earns a thumbs-up because it is worth the price~^^ The seafood nurungji-tang and brisket jjamppong are must-tries. I will have to try the stone-plate jjajang next time.

From family meals to lunch gatherings
How about Mayway, a great Cheomdan jjamppong spot for enjoying a varied Chinese menu, whether it is a family meal, an office-workers' lunch, or a group meal?

We finished sweetly and neatly with dessert ice cream~^^ Next time, I need to conquer the signature stone-plate jjajang too. The staff were kind, and we had a delicious, happy weekend lunch, hihi.
