In short

My partner and I love Korean set meals, so there is a place in Paju that we occasionally think of. It is Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap (심학산 들꽃쌈밥). I have visited this Paju restaurant several times; the meal is a good value, and above all, you can eat as many fresh ssam greens as you like, so it is a great fit for anyone who loves ssambap. As usual, we ordered two Deul Set Meals.

The Deul Set Meal is ₩20,000 per person, and it seemed to have gone up in price since my earlier visits. It comes with spicy stir-fried pork, stir-fried squid, doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), gangdoenjang (thick seasoned soybean paste), and pot rice. If you want an even more generous meal, there is also the ₩26,000 Flower Set Meal. It adds atka mackerel and mackerel to the Deul Set Meal. You can also order extra portions of the main dishes, so you can pick what you want.

After ordering and waiting a little, an assortment of side dishes arrives first. They seem to vary slightly by day, but after several visits, I have found that the basic side dishes are consistently tasty.

And, as you would expect from a ssambap restaurant, you help yourself to the wrap vegetables. You can fill your plate with as much of whichever greens you want from the start. There was a wide variety, and everything was fresh. If you love wraps, you can really enjoy as much as you like here.

The meal starts with sweet, smooth sweet-pumpkin porridge. It is one of the dishes I quietly love here. Once I finish a bowl because it is so good, I am ready to properly begin the meal!

Just as the doenjang-jjigae begins bubbling away, the spicy pork, stir-fried squid, and pot rice are set out.

Lay out a big ssam leaf, add some spicy pork and stir-fried squid, then a little gangdoenjang, and pop it into your mouth! This is exactly how ssambap is meant to be eaten, haha.

With the sweet-savoury spicy pork and the stir-fried squid together, I just kept eating more and more wrap vegetables.

And then, my favourite final course!

First, I scoop out the rice from the pot, pour in warm water, and make nurungji (toasted rice crust soup).

I love this part because finishing a meal with warm, nutty nurungji makes my stomach feel settled. Once I have eaten well and finished with the nurungji, it is a truly filling meal!

A spacious dining room and ample parking

The dining room is spacious, so it looks good for family meals as well as gatherings. The parking lot is also quite large, and across several visits I do not remember ever having trouble parking.

There is a self-serve side-dish corner, so you can bring back extra side dishes as needed.

After the meal, you can even enjoy coffee from the bean-to-cup machine by the entrance and ice cream for dessert.

There are also old-fashioned Korean snacks set out on one side, which are nice for a quick bite after your meal.

If you are looking for a restaurant near Paju Premium Outlets

Ssambap restaurant visited after shopping at Paju Outlet

That day, we visited Deulkkot Ssambap after shopping at Lotte Outlet. Shopping followed by a delicious, filling Korean set meal made for such a perfect outing. So if you are looking for somewhere to eat after going to Paju Lotte Outlet, this could be a good Paju outlet restaurant to consider. If, like me, you enjoy Korean set meals or want to eat lots of fresh wrap vegetables, give it a visit. It is one of my favourite restaurants around Simhaksan because even after several visits, I can always enjoy a hearty meal without feeling weighed down.
