Baekseok-dong braised rib restaurant with baby tableware: Jimidang
In short
Jimidang Ilsan Main Branch is a spicy braised rib restaurant on a quiet side street in Baekseok-dong, Goyang, Gyeonggi, known since its days as Paldeok Sikdang. On this visit the writer ordered the braised rib set for two with extra glass noodles, plus buckwheat pancake and gondre rice (Korean thistle rice) made with Sindongjin rice, which came out glossy and sticky. With baby tableware on hand, Jimidang Ilsan Main Branch is a worry-free place to eat out with a little one.

I visited Jimidang, a braised rib spot famous since its Paldeok Sikdang days in Baekseok. Jimidang is known for its spicy braised ribs, gondre rice (thistle rice) and buckwheat pancake.

Jimidang Ilsan Main Branch: location and parking
Jimidang Ilsan Main Branch (지미당 일산본점) sits on a quiet single road in Baekseok, so if you don't know exactly where it is, I recommend searching on Naver Map first! It might feel a little tricky if you're walking. There are parking spaces in front.
Braised rib set for two: how spicy is it?
The main dish at Jimidang is the braised ribs, and this time we had the set for two. You can adjust the spice level, and even the mild was pleasantly spicy for me. The medium felt a bit hotter than at other places. As for the hot one, I've never dared to try it!

It's a set for two, but if you're going with light eaters, it can be a really big amount.

And here come the spicy ribs. Packed with bean sprouts, with mushrooms and shredded scallions inside, and we added glass noodles! The sauce reduces a little and tastes better that way, so we kept cooking it just enough as we ate.

There is so much meat on these ribs. And it's not the dry, lean kind of meat but meat attached to the bone, which is why it's even tastier, you know? Tender, too.

The meat slips right off the bone, and the sauce has soaked in well. It's so addictive that I keep thinking about it, sob.

Banchan and gondre rice at Jimidang
The basic side dishes at Jimidang are dongchimi (radish water kimchi) to cool down the spice, pickles, and a dipping sauce for the pancake. There aren't many sides, but they go together nicely and are really good.

The gondre rice is nutty, and when you mix it with a spoonful of the sauce, it's amazing. Highly recommended!
We mixed in the scallions until they wilted. Jimidang is the kind of place that always earns compliments when I bring friends or family, and not a single person I've brought has said it was meh!! It's a spot I recommend for eating out with no hit-or-miss. Lately it's also on Coupang Eats, so when I can't be bothered to go, I've ordered delivery, but eating at the restaurant is the best, haha.

Yum yum yum. Gondre rice tastes like it's good for you, and with Sindongjin rice it's definitely glossy and chewy, so the moment you take a bite you think, 'Oh, this feels different!'

Look at those ribs. They're meaty, and there's not a trace of gamey smell. The owner here is incredibly thoughtful, so I trust the ingredients and the hygiene too.

Buckwheat pancake cut like a pizza
I recommend cutting Jimidang's buckwheat pancake like a pizza, like this. Because you have to roll things up in it!

The buckwheat pancake is so good. It's mild but quietly addictive, and the baby who came with us munched away at it so happily, haha.

Why Jimidang works for dining with a baby
Jimidang even has baby tableware. Top-notch thoughtfulness, right?! The floor, tables and even the cutlery were clean with nothing sticky, and I was very satisfied with the hygiene. It's a restaurant where you don't have to worry at all when bringing a child.

Just from details like this, you can feel the owner's care, right?! Jimidang is a spicy braised rib place, so trust me and give it a visit. You won't regret it! I'll be back soon, once my cooldown is over, haha.
