I had leftover curl from my last vintage perm plus new curly roots growing in, and my hair is thick and half-curly, so I figured I should tidy it up before the rainy season. That's why I visited Momentium near Manchon Station. You know half of a hairstyle is all in the cut, right? I'd heard the stylist at Momentium is seriously dedicated to layered cuts.
Getting a short bob volume magic done myself, I could tell how meticulous the stylist is. The method and the products change depending on your hair condition, and she finished my bob perm while doing her best not to damage my hair!

I asked for a bob cut that keeps as much length as possible and isn't too light. Lots of places do layered cuts, but finding one that does them well is surprisingly hard, right? The stylist reflected my opinions as much as she could while cutting.

Momentium's two-birds-one-stone massage chair, haha. It's seriously the best! It loosens your shoulders while your hair is washed, and lying back there, I got so sleepy.
Different straightening products by damage level
After a light wash, the straightening product goes on all over. Each part of the hair is damaged differently, so she uses different types of product. For the roots, she went over them once more with a stronger one.
They also run a heat treatment machine in circles over your head.
Somehow she knew I was getting hungry and gave me a snack in the meantime.

Now the main event, the straightening! My hair is curlier at the back than at the sides, so I asked her to be extra careful. Momentium is a one-stylist shop, so instead of an assistant's hands, I got the stylist's own care from start to finish, and I loved that.
Volume magic instead of regular magic for a wide face
My face is on the wide side, and I thought regular straightening would make my face shape stand out, so I chose volume magic. She curled the ends nicely, right? I'm already looking forward to how easy volume magic is to style.
Neutralizing in the shampoo room, not in the seat
At Momentium in Manchon-dong, the neutralizing isn't done sitting in the chair but at the shampoo room. That stops the neutralizer from running down toward your face, and you get a massage in the meantime, which was nice. She was working bare-handed, so I asked if that was okay, and she said she uses good perm products, so she can work without gloves!
How did the volume magic turn out, and how long did it take?
With the finishing cut and blow-dry included, the volume magic was done in 3 hours! Running my hands through it, it feels like my hair is actually in better condition even though I got a perm.
By the way, can you see my gray hairs? You can't hide your age.. sigh. I thought about getting a dye at the same time, but the stylist said it's better to leave about 2 weeks between treatments. I'll go with what she says, haha.
