Uijeongbu café with Grandma, choco vs black sesame Basque: Forerest
In short
Forerest (포어레스트) is a large café with trees and a terrace on Nogyang-ro in Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu. Three generations (the writer, Mom and Grandma) compared Forerest's house-made chocolate and black sesame Basque cheesecakes with an iced plum drink and hot peppermint tea. The chocolate is richly sweet and the black sesame is nutty and mild, so order both and alternate bites.

I visited Forerest, a large café in Nogyang-dong, Uijeongbu, with my grandma and my mom. We had tea in a space blending trees and a terrace, and tried the Basque cheesecake they make in-house.
The chocolate and black sesame Basque cheesecakes differed so much in taste and texture that comparing them was fun. If you're looking for a spacious café in Uijeongbu, or want dessert and tea together, have a look.

Is parking easy at Forerest?
Forerest has a large parking area in front of the café, so it's easy to come by car. The roomy parking was the first thing I noticed when we arrived.
You can park right in front of the café, which made visiting by car convenient.

Forerest's outdoor terrace among the trees
There's a terrace outside Forerest, with lots of trees around it. I liked that you can enjoy coffee and dessert indoors and also take in the scenery outside.
You can watch the trees change with the seasons, so on a nice day the terrace seems like a good spot to sit.
What is the inside of Forerest like?
Forerest's wood-toned interior

The interior of Forerest is wood-toned throughout, and the warm colors made the space feel calm. Through the big glass windows you can see the scenery outside.
Your eyes naturally drift toward the windows, so even sitting indoors you can enjoy the atmosphere outside.
A separate seating area further inside Forerest

Go further inside Forerest and there's another seating area. Some windows were left open, so you could feel the fresh air and scenery up close.
When we visited, I saw families as well as groups of friends. High chairs are also available.
What's on the menu at Forerest?

Besides coffee, Forerest offers non-coffee drinks and a range of teas. For dessert, there was Basque cheesecake made in-house.

Chocolate vs black sesame Basque cheesecake: how do they differ?
Forerest's Basque cheesecake is reportedly made in the café and aged for 16 hours.

Chocolate Basque cheesecake: rich and sweet
The chocolate Basque cheesecake was smooth yet dense and fudgy. It felt less like eating bread or cake and more like eating chocolate itself, which really stood out.
The sweetness is fairly strong, so it should suit anyone who loves sweet desserts. Personally, the richness made me think it would pair well with a clean coffee like an Americano.

Black sesame Basque cheesecake: nutty and mild
If the chocolate cake was about rich sweetness, what I remembered about the black sesame Basque cheesecake was its nutty, mild flavor. The texture was dense yet soft, and eaten cold it even reminded me of ice cream.
If you like the nutty flavor of black sesame, it has a different charm from the chocolate. Ordering both, the tastes were clearly different, so alternating between them was fun.
Drinks to pair with Forerest's Basque cheesecake
Iced plum drink: sweet and tangy

The plum (maesil) drink I ordered was sweet and refreshing. Served cold, it left my mouth feeling fresh, so it went nicely with dessert.
Hot peppermint tea

I ordered the peppermint hot. The aroma was clean and the aftertaste fresh, so it was nice alongside the sweet cake.

Verdict: Forerest with Grandma and Mom
This time I went to Forerest, a large café in Uijeongbu, with my grandma and mom. The roomy parking, terrace and wood-toned interior left an impression, and with more seating further inside, it was fun to look around.
Among the desserts, the rich sweetness of the chocolate Basque cheesecake and the nutty, mild taste of the black sesame one were so different that they stayed with me. If you love sweet desserts, go for chocolate; if you like nutty flavors, try the black sesame.
If you're looking for a large café in Uijeongbu where you can relax over tea and dessert, check out Forerest.
