In short

Today's post is about a visit to Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil, in Sharosu-gil near Seoul National University Station, when I was craving Korean BBQ.

Out of the many menu options, we ordered the shoulder set for 51,500 won, and added 1++ Korean beef brisket 70g for 8,900 won on top of that.

We started with the brisket eaten as samhap (a three-way combo) with scallops, then moved on to cubed pork neck, and finished with the cross-aged shoulder — each cut had a different texture and flavor, so it was fun comparing them side by side.
Where is Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil?
Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil is located on the first floor of Hyorim Building, 70 Gwanak-ro 14-gil, Gwanak-gu, Seoul.

It's about 460m from Exit 1 of Seoul National University Station, so you can just walk along Sharosu-gil and find it without much trouble. It's a fairly convenient spot for a date, dinner, or company dinner around Seoul National University Station, and reservations and group bookings are available. Business hours can vary by day, so I'd recommend checking Naver before you go.
The cross-aged meat spot people know on Sharosu-gil

The menu was a bit different from your typical Korean BBQ place that just sells pork belly or pork neck.
There's cross-aged Korean pork, aged beef, house-made seasoned grilled meat, set menus, and quite a range of options. Korean pork in particular is broken down by aging method and cut — shoulder, hanyang pork belly, cubed neck, jowl — so if you're into aged meat, there's genuine fun in choosing from the menu.

Kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) and fluffy steamed egg came included for free, which paired nicely with the meat and made the whole spread feel generous.
What comes in the 51,500 won shoulder set

We chose the shoulder set for 51,500 won. It came with two servings of cross-aged pork shoulder and one serving of cubed pork neck, 450g total.
Starting with 1++ Korean beef brisket and scallop samhap

Before the pork, we added 1++ Korean beef brisket 70g for 8,900 won.

Eating the scallops that came alongside it together with the brisket, as a chadolsamhap combo, made it so much better.

The thin, savory brisket paired with the plump, springy scallop worked much better together than either did alone. I'd recommend not overcooking the brisket, and eating it in one bite together with the scallop.
The banchan that make the brisket better

Several banchan (side dishes) came out to go with the meat, and the kimchi pickle, spicy radish salad, salted hairtail guts, and pepper pickle went especially well.
With aged meat, I liked to taste the meat on its own first, then bring in each banchan one at a time — the same meat ended up tasting different each time. Personally, the sour or salty pickled dishes suited the fattier cuts, and the salted hairtail guts made the pork's savory flavor even richer.
480 cross-aged cubed pork neck

After the brisket samhap, we moved on to the cross-aged cubed pork neck.

True to its name, it came sliced thick, and after grilling the outside well, each bite had good juiciness and rich flavor thanks to the thickness.
You might expect pork neck to be a bit dry, but thanks to the aging it was softer than expected, both light and savory.
The cut I was most curious about: cross-aged pork shoulder

Last was the star of the set, the 480 cross-aged pork shoulder. I eat pork belly or neck pretty often, but shoulder is a cut I don't come across as much, so it was the one I was most curious to try.

Trying it, the fat had a bit more of a savory richness than the neck, and the chewy, springy texture stood out.

It's the kind of cut where the savory flavor builds the more you chew, so I liked eating it plain with salt or basic seasoning first, then following up with kimchi pickle or pepper pickle.
Is Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil worth it?
If you want to properly enjoy aged meat around Seoul National University Station or Sharosu-gil, Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil is worth a visit.
The shoulder set in particular lets you try two servings of cross-aged shoulder and one serving of cubed neck, 450g in total, all at once, so it's a good fit for anyone who wants to enjoy multiple cuts. I'd also recommend adding the 1++ Korean beef brisket like we did and eating it as a samhap combo with scallops.

This was a Sharosu-gil favorite I'd want to come back to for a date, a company dinner near Seoul National University Station, or dinner with friends who love their meat :)
