Suwon City Hall Station café: fruit-layer cake & grapefruit tea, Diaz

I stopped by Diaz, a café near City Hall Station in Suwon, for cake and drinks. This time I ordered a fruit slice cake, an iced vanilla latte and an iced grapefruit tea.

The cake and two drinks came out on a wooden tray, and the colorful fruit on top looked so tempting just sitting there. With the cold drinks beside it, the whole table brightened up, and it made for a really nice dessert break.

Where is Diaz Cake Boutique in Suwon?

Diaz Cake Boutique (디아즈케이크부띠끄) is at 48-7 Ingye-ro 166beon-gil, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, in Unit 201 on the 2nd floor. The hours posted in the shop are daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

When you look for a café near City Hall Station, check the floor number along with the address. It makes the place much easier to find. On the map, search for Diaz Cake Boutique to see the location. Hours can change, so it's a good idea to check the latest info before you go.

What did I order at Diaz, and how much was it?

At Diaz Cake Boutique I ordered an iced vanilla latte, an iced grapefruit tea and a fruit slice cake. The vanilla latte was ₩6,900, the grapefruit tea ₩7,900, and the fruit slice cake ₩11,900 according to the showcase price tag.

Adding up the listed prices of the three items comes to ₩26,700. That's two drinks plus one slice of cake, and knowing the price of each item makes it easy to estimate your budget.

The Diaz menu also had Americano and café latte, plus several kinds of tea and financiers (small almond cakes). You can pick coffee or tea to go with your cake.

What does the Diaz fruit slice cake look like?

The Diaz fruit slice cake has several kinds of fruit on top, and there is fruit between the sponge and the cream too. On top I could see figs, blueberries, green grapes, oranges and more.

Each fruit has a different color, so they stand out clearly against the white cream. On the side you can see the sponge and cream stacked in layers, with the fruit tucked in between.

If you want a fruit cake, look at the cross-section

For anyone in Suwon looking for a fruit cake, the part I'd most like to show you is the cross-section of the fruit slice cake. There's fruit between the layers of sponge, so even a single slice felt generous, and the colorful cross-section showing through the white fresh cream was pretty too.

The menu noted that the fruit types and the combination can change with the season.

What cakes are in the Diaz showcase?

In the Diaz Cake Boutique showcase I saw fruit cake, fig cake, chocolate slice cake and more. The fruit fresh cream cake (size 1) was ₩49,000 on the price tag I photographed, with several fruits on top and the fruit cross-section visible on the side too.

The Muhwagwa Mongttang (무화과몽땅, a fig cake), size 1, 1 tier, was also ₩49,000 according to the price tag at the time. You could compare the sizes and makeup of the slice cakes and whole cakes side by side.

The menu also said whole cakes can be reserved. If there's a cake you want, it's worth asking the shop about the fruit combination, the price and whether you can reserve it.

Summing up my Diaz visit in Suwon

This time at Diaz I had the fruit slice cake with an iced vanilla latte and grapefruit tea. It was a visit where I took photos of the fruit on the cake, the cross-section and the drinks all together.
