In short

Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon, a 10-minute walk from Suwon City Hall Station and near the Newcore Outlet on Nahyeseok-gil. The order was one serving each of pork belly (17,000 won), pork neck (17,000 won) and skirt meat (18,000 won) plus cheonggukjang (7,000 won, fermented soybean paste stew), with staff searing the meat over a straw fire and finishing it on charcoal at the table. Generous banchan and the signature tteok-ssam (rice cake wrap) make Jipbul Taebaek an easy pick for group dinners as well.

Jipbul Taebaek is a 10-minute walk from Suwon City Hall Station. It's near the NC Outlet too, so it's a good stop after shopping.

There were fish living right in front of the restaurant. Haven't seen that kind of touch in a while~

Inside the restaurant and the self-serve bar

The interior is pretty spacious. It can be booked for up to 68 people, so it'd work well as a spot for group dinners in Ingye-dong.

There was a self-serve bar on one side, stocked with lettuce wraps, garlic, kimchi, ssamjang (dipping sauce), and tableware. For other banchan (side dishes), just ask staff for a refill.

How generous are the banchan at Jipbul Taebaek?

Here are the basic side dishes. The banchan spread here is more generous than at most BBQ places in Ingye-dong — potato salad, green onion kimchi, salted lettuce, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), radish kimchi, and more to go with the meat.

My favorites were the potato salad and japchae! The combo of whole-grain mustard and garlic flakes on top of the potato salad felt especially fresh.

Kimchi and bracken fern to grill with the meat

They also give you kimchi and bracken fern to grill alongside the meat. Pork belly with kimchi is truth..⭐️

Straw-fire searing, then charcoal: staff grill the meat for you

The meat we ordered comes pre-seared over straw fire! You could catch a faint straw smoke scent. From left to right: pork belly, pork neck, and skirt meat.

Straw-fire seared pork belly, pork neck, and skirt meat

If you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong where staff grill everything for you, this is a great option. It comes pre-seared, and staff grill it fully.

The method is straw fire first for one layer of smoky flavor, then charcoal for a second layer. Since they grilled everything, the meal was comfortable and easy.

While they were cutting and grilling, I busily worked through the potato salad and japchae lol. The charcoal aroma was really intense.

Three ways to eat the pork, plus the signature tteok-ssam

Once the meat is fully grilled, staff explain the best ways to eat it!

  • Dip in black sesame salt
  • Dip in soy sauce, then top with angelica pesto or neungi mushroom pesto
  • Wrap it in rice cake
Signature rice cake wrap with meat and kimchi

This right here is the signature rice cake wrap. Dip the meat and kimchi in soy sauce, wrap them together in rice cake, then dip that in bean powder!! The savory depth was excellent.

For round two, they grilled the skirt meat fully as well. I don't think I've seen a place that keeps up the grilling service all the way through the meal — it was so, so convenient!! Worth a visit if you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong.

They line up the finished meat on the outer edge of the grill, so all you have to do is eat lol.

Is the 7,000-won cheonggukjang stew worth adding?

The cheonggukjang stew was tasty too. At ₩7,000, both the portion and the flavor felt like more than the price.

Cheonggukjang stew packed with tofu

It's packed with ingredients~~ especially the tofu!! It stands out from the typical BBQ-restaurant stew. It wasn't too intense either, so it was easy on the stomach 🫶

If you're looking for a great Korean BBQ restaurant in Ingye-dong, I recommend Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch!
