My handsome friend with the great personality — he'd already left his job but still came all the way to Yeongtong for me. We'd made a Naver reservation beforehand! It was for 6pm and I heard they cancel it 10 minutes after, so we ran here like crazy lol

The sign is done in this woody style with small lettering on the left side, so some people might have trouble finding it lol. Kind of gives me Totoro vibes lol

The tank was kept this fresh and clean — maybe that's why it's called Susan Jang (seafood market) haha

Susan Jang's recommended menu seemed to change a bit like a daily special. I'd already made up my mind to order the Susan Jang assorted seafood platter haha

Seating and atmosphere: every seat full at 6pm on a weekday

Susan Jang Suwon Yeongtong Branch also has seating for two. The place isn't that big but the vibe is really good haha — it really has that genuine izakaya feel

We sat at our reserved 4-person table haha. The cat plates were so cute lol

The menu was so varied and every dish looked mouthwatering. I really love seafood so I was seriously excited

The free starter: grilled flatfish

They always bring out grilled flatfish first here haha. This grilled flatfish is a gem, seriously so good haha

It's just the free starter but it was crazy delicious — the flesh was plump and the seasoning was perfectly salty haha

Susan Jang assorted seafood platter, 45,000 won

The Susan Jang assorted platter apparently comes with in-season fish and the freshest seafood delivered fresh every morning. There's scallop, abalone, sashimi — so good

My mouth is watering just writing this — it was aged sashimi so it was even tastier, chewy and ㅠ

Whale sake, 8,000 won

Delicious food needs alcohol to go with it. I wasn't feeling too well that day so I didn't drink much, but I ordered the whale sake. Reason: it's pretty

'Pour me some whale sake' haha. My senior friend told me not to show off and only drink a little, so I held back haha

Lol the little sake cup is so cute haha. But I'm not really into sake so the whale sake wasn't my thing — though everyone else who came said it was so good!!!

So good — dip it in the chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) like this and pop it in your mouth, it's literally the perfect soju snack!!!!!!

Our number one dish: pen shell tuumba pasta, 24,000 won

The pen shell tuumba pasta is seriously so good, you have to try it. This was the overwhelming #1 pick among the four of us lol

The cheese stretches like this and the seasoning was perfect, so delicious. In a way, since we'd ordered a lot of seafood already, this gave the get-together a bit of tension you could say?

Seriously so good, haha, and packed full of scallops too!!!!!!

Delicious food needs alcohol to go with it ㅠ so happy ㅠ. My condition was bad so I was careful not to overdrink haha

Flounder sashimi with salt gimbap, 41,000 won

The flounder salt gimbap that's hot on social media!!!!! The flounder comes out looking so pretty! Just put the flounder on top of the gimbap (seaweed rice roll) and dip it in sesame oil. Don't forget the aged kimchi garnish! Though since I love aged kimchi, maybe I should have ordered the flounder aged-kimchi roll instead haha

Whew, it really was so good — I love sashimi and seafood so this place was seriously amazing lol. The vibe was great too lol, guess it's because I only drank a little at this izakaya lol

When you're about to get sick of it, dip it in a generous scoop of chojang again~~~~~ Around this point my inner glutton instincts started kicking in and I wanted to eat even more. And we'd already demolished 3 dishes lol

Jangheung butter pen shell and beef brisket samhap, 28,000 won

Just the name sounds grand — Jangheung butter pen shell beef tendon samhap (three-ingredient combo). This is crazy good lol. I was kind of going for variety by ordering different dishes, but I kind of regret not ordering the live sweet shrimp sashimi ㅠ

Haha, it's sizzling with tons of scallops in it, and the mustard leaf kimchi in here is divine. Maybe that's why it's called samhap (three combined), it's divine ;;;;;;;;;;;

I dipped it in the accompanying sauce and this sauce was literally the highlight lol. Ahhhh,,,,

Finishing with gyedumyeon noodles, 6,000 won

It's called gyeduman (two-egg noodles) because it comes with two eggs..! Loaded with chili powder haha. We really ordered a ton of dishes haha

We were too full to finish it, but the broth and everything was crazy good ㅠ lol. Good for a bit of spicy kick to whet your appetite ㅠ

Felt like we were about to burst so we switched to Sprite haha lol. Sad because I had work the next day ㅠ

Full or with people waiting, you get 2.5 hours to use the table! There wasn't a wait but it was full, so we ate a reasonable amount and left haha

Fresh seafood, great vibe, delicious dishes all around — Susan Jang Suwon Yeongtong Branch! If only the seating were bigger, I'd want to bring the whole office here to hang out lol

Definitely order the Susan Jang assorted platter!! Seems like the signature dish with seafood sourced fresh every day!!!!! The pen shell scallop pasta was way better than I expected, I'm still thinking about that taste lol. The flounder salt gimbap was also so good lol. Since the seafood is fresh, everything was delicious. Reservation is a must!!!!!! Book ahead through Naver Reservation!!!
