Jamsil pub for Shin Ramyun-spicy gopchang hot pot with udon: Horanggul
In short
Horanggul Bangi Branch (호랑이굴 방이점) is a Japanese-style gopchang (beef intestine) hot pot pub in the Bangi-dong Food Alley near Jamsil in Songpa, Seoul. Having eaten daechang (large intestine) hot pot at the Beomgye Horanggul before, the writer arrived right at weekday opening time and ordered the Horanggul gopchang hot pot for 2 at Shin Ramyun spice level. The meal ended with Japanese-style udon noodles cooked in the leftover broth. Verdict: Horanggul Bangi Branch is a good stop when a chilly day calls for gopchang hot pot and soju.

Horanggul now has a branch in Bangi-dong Food Alley, Jamsil
Horanggul (호랑이굴) is the gopchang hot pot place where I once traveled all the way to Beomgye for daechang (large intestine) hot pot, and now there's one in the Bangi-dong Food Alley in Jamsil too!!! Oh my gosh, do you remember? I was literally like, how do I get to Beomgye again to eat that, and now I'm so, so happy..
Wow, Jamsil really is packed even on weekdays. I honestly thought it was the weekend.........

Sob, long time no see. It's been so long! At the Beomgye Horanggul I waited in the cold and the daechang hot pot was seriously delicious.

Of course, prices have gone up from before because of inflation. I really like that the Bangi branch puts the menu board outside like this.

Is there a wait at Horanggul Bangi if you arrive at opening time?
You can also join the waitlist through Tabling at Horanggul Bangi! We went almost right at opening, so we were seated immediately. Check the business hours!
Horanggul Bangi Branch interior and seating
The inside is super spacious and really feels Japanese. The playlist and the whole mood are so good... There are seats further in, too?!! It seems great for group dinners, family gatherings, or dates. Aren't the chairs so cute, haha? Cushions and storage for your bags.. so thoughtful.

How to order at Horanggul Bangi: QR code at the table
BUT at Horanggul Bangi you have to order through a QR code..

Even calling staff is done by QR! We thought about getting a set menu, but

since this was our second stop, we ordered the Horanggul gopchang hot pot for 2. I had the daechang hot pot last time, so this time I'm trying the gopchang hot pot, haha. Aren't the sides amazing too.. You can also order risotto or noodles with the leftover broth; I had the risotto last time, so I decided to try the noodles this time.
I want the seasoned gopchang/daechang stir-fry, but I think you'd need three or four people for that. T_T For two, even the gopchang hot pot is a lot.

Horanggul Bangi has lots of alcohol choices and non-alcoholic drinks too!

Write a review and they give you a Tico ice cream for dessert, and there's even a customer feedback channel. Such a thoughtful place..

What free side dish does Horanggul serve?
The complimentary side dish at Horanggul Bangi is just one thing: garlic scapes?!! I immediately cracked open the soju with it, haha. So good;;

How to eat Horanggul gopchang hot pot: the 9-minute timer
When the gopchang hot pot arrives, they set a 9-minute timer, and when it goes beep-beep-beep you open the lid! Ugh, the waiting was so hard, hahahahahaha.
While waiting, read the guide on how to eat the hot pot! The owner put his own face on it, so there's no way it won't be good.

What Shin Ramyun-spicy gopchang hot pot looks like
Eek, when I opened it after 9 minutes it was sizzling like this.. wow, the look is insane. We ordered the gopchang hot pot at Shin Ramyun spice level!

Stir a few times and the meat cooks right away?!! Dip the fried tofu pockets, fish balls, tofu and vegetables in soy sauce first, then give the meat and gopchang 2-3 more minutes.
Wow, just look at all that stuff in there;;; How do I resist the soju T_T Down it goes in one shot. The broth is legendary, seriously;; When the weather gets chilly you absolutely have to eat gopchang hot pot..

The tofu pockets and gopchang are tasty dipped in soy sauce

and just as good grabbed and eaten in one big bite...

How much broth to leave for udon noodles in gopchang hot pot
You must leave at least a third of the Horanggul broth!! Because you need it for the noodles;;;; You can't order extra broth T_T I originally planned to leave about half so I could have both noodles and risotto, but the broth was so good I couldn't help it.

I ordered the Japanese-style udon noodles and why are they so chewy;; Keep boiling them so the noodles soak up all the broth. Ah.... so good... I hate that I'm full from this... haha.

Horanggul Bangi restroom and final verdict
The restroom at Horanggul Bangi is outside the restaurant, but my dad says it's clean. I was so happy to be back at Horanggul after so long. If you're craving gopchang hot pot in Bangi-dong, definitely stop by.
