What is the atmosphere like at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu?
The inside of the restaurant felt clean and comfortable overall! It wasn't chaotic or noisy, and you can enjoy your meal calmly, haha.

It's spacious enough for family meals and even group gatherings! The tables are spaced reasonably, so I never felt cramped while eating. The staff were friendly too, so it was a pleasant meal!
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu menu and review event

This Paju dumpling hot pot spot has a variety of dishes with mandu (dumplings) in them! There are plenty of side dishes to go with them too, haha.

There's also a first-come review event where you can get a free mung bean pancake (nokdu bindaetteok), so give it a try!

We ordered the Pyeongyang mandu hot pot for 3 people!
Basic side dishes and the self-serve corner
When you order the Pyeongyang mandu hot pot, the basic side dishes come out first! They're the kind of sides that go well with the hot pot, haha.

Bubyeokjeong also has a self-serve corner, so you can bring as many more sides as you need!

Pyeongyang mandu hot pot for 3: how were the dumplings?
When the Pyeongyang mandu hot pot arrived, the big dumplings and plenty of other ingredients were piled in generously, and it looked hearty just from the sight of it!
The dumplings are bigger than ordinary ones, so even one felt quite filling, and they were packed with filling, which I liked!

The wrappers weren't too thick and had a soft texture, and the filling tasted mild and clean, haha. The seasoning isn't strong, so I could keep eating without it feeling heavy, and the nutty flavor of the filling came through even better with the broth!

How vegetables and mushrooms build the hot pot broth
The vegetables and mushrooms in the hot pot also bring out its flavor! The mushrooms add their distinctive aroma and chewy texture, and the vegetables give the broth a refreshing taste, so the whole combination worked well, haha.

Once the hot pot starts to boil, a subtle flavor seeps out of the vegetables and mushrooms together with the dumplings, and the broth gets deeper and deeper!

At first it tasted very clean and mild, but the longer it simmered, the more the flavors of the ingredients blended and the richer the broth became, haha.

The meat served with the dumpling hot pot
The meat served with the hot pot went well with it too! It turns tender as it cooks in the broth, and with meat and a variety of ingredients rather than just dumplings, it felt more abundant.

The broth wasn't greasy but clean, which I liked! The Pyeongyang mandu hot pot here is the mild style, so I could enjoy it to the very end, haha.

Finishing the dumpling hot pot with kalguksu
After enjoying the hot pot for a while, we could add kalguksu (knife-cut noodles)! Putting noodles into a broth that had already absorbed the flavor of the dumplings and ingredients felt like eating a whole different dish.
The noodles stayed chewy while soaking up the broth and went well with the deepened hot pot broth! Starting with a hearty dumpling hot pot and finishing with kalguksu made it a full, filling meal with nothing missing.

Dessert: misutgaru and snacks
After the meal, we could enjoy a simple dessert of misutgaru (roasted grain drink) and snacks that were set out, haha.

Finishing a warm hot pot with nutty misutgaru left my mouth feeling clean, and though it's a small thing, it felt like they cared about what happens after the meal, which I liked!
Bubyeokjeong dumpling hot pot in one line
These days there's a lot of food with intense seasoning and strong flavors, but at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu, this Paju dumpling hot pot spot, I could taste the mildness that's typical of Pyeongyang-style mandu, and I loved that!
