Songdo sushi restaurant: weekday 11am lunch with my mom, Sushi Doku
In short
Sushi Doku The Songdo (스시도쿠 더송도) is a sushi set-meal restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo, Yeonsu, Incheon. On a third visit, the writer and their mother arrived for the 11am weekday opening and ordered two Premium Sushi Special Sets, each served on its own tray with 10 pieces of sushi, udon, tempura and chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg custard). With an unusually long salmon nigiri and plum tea after the meal, Sushi Doku The Songdo is a Songdo sushi restaurant worth returning to.

Why I came to Sushi Doku The Songdo a third time
Sushi Doku The Songdo (스시도쿠 더송도) is a sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo, 1 minute on foot from Exit 2 of Tekeunopakeu Station. This is already my second return visit. Even as a sponsored reviewer, I wouldn't come back if the food were bad, haha. But it's tasty every single time, so here I am a third time.

Songdo sushi at Sushi Doku The Songdo: is it relaxed at weekday opening?
When I got to Sushi Doku The Songdo at the 11am weekday opening, it was relaxed. I'd always gone on weekends, so this time I tried a weekday. There can be a wait on weekends at this Songdo sushi favorite, so if you're going then, I strongly recommend booking!

There's also a menu board out front, so you can check the dishes and prices before you go in 🤗

Kiosk ordering and the kids' menu
At Sushi Doku The Songdo, you check the detailed menu and order on a kiosk at your table. Besides sushi sets, they sell udon, a kids' menu, sashimi and more. The kids' menu is what we order every time we come with our child. The price isn't a burden and the set is good, so I'd recommend this Songdo sushi spot to anyone looking for a place to eat out with kids.

What's in the Premium Sushi Special Set I ordered with Mom
This time I came without the kid, just my mom and me, and we ordered two Premium Sushi Special Sets. The full Premium Sushi spread arrived quickly after we ordered! It's served neatly as one tray per person, so it's easy to eat tidily.

Flounder, red sea bream, salmon, squid, sweet shrimp, lean tuna (akami), red shrimp, red snow crab meat, eel and monkfish liver (ankimo)! You get 10 pieces of sushi in total, and as the staff served it, they explained that it's best to eat from white fish first, then move on to colored fish like salmon and tuna.
- Flounder
- Red sea bream
- Salmon
- Squid
- Sweet shrimp
- Lean tuna (akami)
- Red shrimp
- Red snow crab meat
- Eel
- Monkfish liver (ankimo)

Salad and udon with fried tofu
The Premium Sushi Special Set also comes with a crunchy salad, good for before the sushi or in between bites.

The udon at Sushi Doku The Songdo is really good too,, the broth is slightly salty, with a subtle sweetness coming from the fried tofu (yuba). It was perfect as a warm palate cleanser between pieces of sushi.

Shrimp tempura and karaage
The tempura is 1 piece of shrimp tempura and 2 pieces of karaage (Japanese fried chicken). It came out piping hot, like it was just fried, which made it even better. Paired with the sauce that comes with it, the crispy fry was a great match haha

Chawanmushi with ginkgo nuts and shrimp
The chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg) is the real deal too. It has a soft, moist texture different from Korean steamed egg, which is lovely. There are ginkgo nuts and shrimp inside, so it was fun picking them out as I ate.

How the sushi tastes at Sushi Doku The Songdo, and that long salmon
Now it's time to dig into the sushi! Every piece at Sushi Doku The Songdo was chewy yet rich and nutty, so I was happy with all of it the whole way through :)

On my visit, the salmon nigiri was overwhelmingly long. At first it was overlapped with the other sushi, so I didn't realize how long it was. I picked up the sweet shrimp sushi that was underneath the salmon, and felt something squishy under it, so I looked,, and the salmon was this loooong haha. Getting such a generous piece of salmon made me even happier haha
Enjoying everything one by one, from sushi to udon, tempura and chawanmushi, we'd soon cleared the whole tray.

Mouthwash, floss and plum tea at the counter after the meal
The counter at Sushi Doku The Songdo has mouthwash, dental floss and even toothpicks ready. I was impressed by how thoughtfully they let you freshen up your mouth after the meal.

On one side there's also warm plum tea (maesil-cha), so I could settle my stomach after eating and finish with a clean, fresh mouth.

Is there a wait on weekdays too?
I went in at the 11am weekday opening, and when I finished and left it was a bit before 12, and even on a weekday a wait had formed. As expected of a Songdo sushi favorite,, I'd only gone on weekends before so I didn't know, but there are waits on weekdays too.
Overall verdict on revisiting Sushi Doku The Songdo
Whenever I go, Sushi Doku The Songdo is tasty, fresh and the staff are kind. The food comes out as a neat full spread, so it's a great place for family gatherings or dates. It's also close to Hyundai Outlet and Songdo Triple Street, so it's handy for a solid sushi meal before or after shopping. A revisit I recommend, recommend, recommend, recommend!
