Shabu-shabu restaurant in Yongin with spicy kalguksu: Deungchon
In short
Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch is a mushroom kalguksu restaurant in Yongin, Gyeonggi. I enjoyed spicy mushroom kalguksu with shabu beef, minari, mushrooms, DIY sujebi, and egg fried rice. Verdict: a filling, fiery meal before or after a movie.

A great shabu-shabu spot near Giheung-gu Office Station: Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch (등촌샤브칼국수 기흥역점).

Units 206–207, B2F, ICT Valley Building B, 58 Giheung-ro, Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi-do. Hours are 11:00–21:00, with a break from 15:00–17:00. Weekend parking is free.

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu is my absolute favorite. I am such a shabu-shabu killer, truly. This Giheung branch is in the same building as Giheung CGV, so it is perfect for a meal before or after a movie!

Past CGV we go, to Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu. Weirdly, parking at the Giheung Station ICT Valley building is free on weekends! Shouldn't weekends be when it costs money? Maybe because it is an office-district building?
Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch menu and order

Different Deungchon Shabu Shabu branches have different setups—some have a self bar, while others sell kalguksu menus. At Giheung, there is one mushroom kalguksu menu for ₩10,000 per person, and you simply choose the broth flavor ‼️
- Spicy mushroom kalguksu ₩10,000 × 3 (kalguksu noodles, vegetables, dumplings, fried rice)
- Shabu beef ₩10,000
- Vegetables (minari and mushrooms) ₩4,000
- DIY sujebi ₩3,000
This is what we ordered ❤️❤️

They also have a receipt-review event, so go get yourself a complimentary drink.
A spacious, comfortable shabu-shabu dining room in Giheung

The interior is seriously huge and comfortable! The tables are nicely spaced, making it great for family meals, and even with hot food, it did not feel humid or stuffy. Anyway, Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch was a wonderfully comfortable shabu-shabu spot.

Soy sauce with wasabi is essential for shabu-shabu. I love this sauce. Honestly, minari (water parsley) tastes best dipped in chojang, a sweet-and-tangy chili vinegar sauce, but the soy-wasabi sauce is plenty good too!
Spicy kalguksu piled high with minari and mushrooms

Is this amount of minari and mushrooms really included in a ₩10,000 kalguksu set?!! And the ₩10,000 portion of meat was super generous too 💚 Who came up with the minari-and-spicy-noodle combination? I am so happy Deungchon Shabu Shabu is near my house..

Here comes the basic spicy kalguksu-and-vegetable set, fried rice, shabu meat, extra minari and mushrooms, kalguksu noodles, and DIY sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes)!

A table completely filled with shabu-shabu at this Yongin favorite.

Just seeing the minari and mushrooms arrive piled so high that they nearly overflow the pot makes you gasp, seriously ㄷㄷ💛🫢

As soon as I opened the lid and the broth began to boil, I tasted a spoonful first. All I could say was that the broth and minari aroma together were insane. The deep, pleasantly spicy broth clung to the palate, while crisp, fragrant minari joined in; one bite and it felt like everything inside me had loosened right up. Instant hangover cure. As the vegetables steeped, the broth became even cleaner-tasting and richer.

Lightly cook the tender shabu beef, wrap it in minari, and dip it in soy-wasabi sauce—the balance of nutty richness and fresh fragrance is perfect.
You cannot skip the DIY sujebi, one of this Giheung branch's charms. Tearing thin pieces of dough into the pot yourself is fun, and the spicy broth soaks in beautifully, making each chewy bite a different kind of treat from the kalguksu noodles. Highly. Recommended. I want to scoop up another spoonful, slurp.
And then there are the dumplings, perfect with the broth as it grows richer. Why do dumplings in shabu-shabu feel so extra special? ㅠㅠ I want them again.

You cannot leave out the plump kalguksu noodles dropped into the broth deeply infused with meat and vegetables either. As the noodles boil, the broth thickens, and the spicy, deep seasoning clings to every chewy strand ‼️ Every slurp brings another little burst of amazement. Perfect carb loading..

Deungchon's true finale: egg fried rice
But Deungchon's real finale is, of course, the fried rice. After lightly clearing the kalguksu and sujebi, ask a staff member for fried rice and the kitchen makes it for you. Deungchon's signature egg fried rice comes out dry and fluffy from a high-heat stir-fry, and it is moving every single time 💛

One bite of the nutty egg flavor and the crispy scorched-rice texture, lightly moistened with the spicy broth I saved, and “this is seriously insane” just comes out on its own. Even when I feel like I might burst, I end up scraping the pot clean with my spoon. A genuinely real-deal restaurant.

From rich broth and fresh minari to beef and moist dumplings, chewy DIY sujebi and kalguksu, and addictive fried rice, there is not one miss throughout the whole meal. If you want a hearty, fiery meal, Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Giheung Station Branch is always the answer. Deungchon really is the best 👍👍
