I was out on a Seochon walk and wanted to stop by a café with hanok (traditional Korean house) vibes.🤍 Oldsse Seochon (올딧세 서촌) turned out to be more than just a stylish hanok-style café — every menu item and detail of the interior felt carefully thought through.

The weather was nice and cool, perfect for autumn.🍂 I'd been wanting to feel that Seochon mood again for a while. From the outside, the hanging leaves blending with the hanok exterior were enough to stop me in my tracks!

I wanted a change of pace with a different kind of mood alongside the autumn air, and this place was perfect for resting during a Seochon outing.😌

The menu was unusually posted on one side of a wooden post! Everything was laid out neatly, which made it easy to choose. I wanted something fresh that day, so I picked a fresh-pressed juice, though I was torn — the Colombia Ana Yah Mbolighon Washed hand-drip coffee, with notes of rose tea, strawberry, cocoa, and peach, looked tempting too.☕️

The hand-drip coffee lineup was so varied and distinctive that even though I don't usually drink coffee, I wanted to try it..! For dessert, there's a Dutch baby pancake with seasonal fruit and a Basque cheesecake, both of which would pair nicely with a drink.🥧

Window seats and pillar chairs at Oldsse Seochon: how they feel to sit in

I took a table by the floor-to-ceiling window. The open layout gave enough space between tables, making it a comfortable spot to relax while taking in the cozy hanok space and the natural view outside. Instead of regular chairs, there were backless pillar-shaped stools — a bit uncomfortable, but a distinctive touch.

The juice of the day (₩8,000) is a wellness juice made every morning from freshly pressed fruits and vegetables. The freshness really came through!✨🌿 I half-expected a healthy drink to taste bland, but the fruit and vegetable flavors were clear and it was genuinely delicious.

Maybe because Seochon has that lush, quiet, hanok-tinged feel, this kind of drink just seemed to fit right in.😌 It tasted like healing, matched with the mood of the space.🍃

Unlike your typical café, the interior layout was quite distinctive. Between the floor-to-ceiling windows and the free-spirited furniture arrangement scattered throughout, it felt wonderfully open. It's not really a place to sit for hours — more somewhere to pause briefly and take in the hanok atmosphere.

Oldsse Seochon's own sensibility showed up everywhere. The lighting, typography, and walls all stood out with what felt like a modern reinterpretation of old-fashioned charm. Looking closer, I found that the murals, tea coasters, and even the stickers for sale were all the work of artists. Maybe that's why the atmosphere felt quite different from a typical hanok café.

The mural is said to depict the whole journey of coffee — the terroir that holds the seasons, the farmer growing the coffee cherries beneath it, the roaster carefully roasting the beans, the barista brewing a cup, and finally the cup reaching the customer — captured like a myth painted onto a cave wall.

By evening the mood shifted into something quite different from daytime — a great place to enjoy that uniquely Seochon feeling.
