Anyang sashimi restaurant with seaweed-aged fish: Namhae Mulgogi
In short
Namhae Mulgogi Anyang is a sashimi restaurant on the fourth floor of Jungang Plaza near Beomgye Station in Anyang. I visited with a friend on a weekday evening for the two-person seaweed-aged sashimi set, and remembered its progression from sushi and futo-maki to yuringi, clams, and shabu-shabu.

On a weekday evening, I visited Namhae Mulgogi Anyang (남해물고기 안양점) with a friend who lives in Anyang. We ordered the two-person seaweed-aged sashimi set, which arrived in courses that included not only sashimi but also yuringi, clams steamed in alcohol, and shabu-shabu.

How do you get there from Beomgye Station, and where can you park?
The restaurant is in Room 404 on the fourth floor of Jungang Plaza near Beomgye Station. When traveling from Seongnam to Anyang, I usually take bus 333 from Moran or bus 3330 from Seohyeon. This time, I took the double-decker 3330 bus from Seohyeon, and the trip took a little over 40 minutes.

Getting off at the Dongan-gu Office stop left me a little closer to the restaurant than getting off at the Beomgye Station stop. After getting off, I crossed the road through the underground passage.
My friend planned to drive, so I checked the parking information in advance. The mechanical parking lot behind the building is free for two hours. Large SUVs, electric vehicles, and vehicles weighing 2 tons or more cannot park there. If it is full, you have to use a nearby paid parking lot, and parking fees are not covered.
The hours listed in the original article were 11:30–22:50, with a regular closing day every Monday. The restaurant also indicated that Naver reservations were available.
What was the seating atmosphere like for dining with someone?
The entrance had a polished look, and the wood-toned tables and chairs inside were neatly arranged. The latticework with traditional patterns also caught my eye.
Screens that could be lowered from above were placed between the tables. I liked that we could dine a little more privately, and I thought the seating could work for a meal with a partner, family, or an important acquaintance.
What name should you use to order the seaweed-aged sashimi set?
On a weekday evening, we ordered the two-person seaweed-aged sashimi set. We were told that the “seaweed-aged sashimi set” on Naver reservations and the “sashimi omakase set” on the menu referred to the same dish.

I heard that a lunch special was also available, but this time we had the evening set. The menu also offered a variety of à la carte dishes and alcoholic drinks.

Since it was a weekday, we ordered just one bottle of Junmai 300 sake.

How was the aged sashimi set that began with porridge and mulhoe?
Instead of regular bottled water, the restaurant served heotgae tea.

The set began with porridge and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup). I ate the porridge first to settle my stomach, then had the refreshing mulhoe.

There was a generous amount of sashimi in the mulhoe. It had a pleasantly chewy texture, and since I had not eaten mulhoe in a while, it whetted my appetite.

The main aged sashimi came next. Because it was a two-person portion, two pieces of each fish arrived, making it easy for my friend and me to share one each.

A staff member explained the fish, and the names I remember were yellowtail, amberjack, herring, flounder, salmon, hairtail, sea bream, and red drum. I may not remember the list exactly, and I was also told that the fish can vary depending on seasonal supply.
Does the set include sushi and hot dishes besides sashimi?
Sushi and futo-maki (thick sushi rolls) came after the aged sashimi. I like rice, so being able to eat steamed rice with the sashimi made it feel like a complete meal.

Next came yuringi, a Chinese-style chicken dish. I was a little surprised because it was not a menu I expected to see in a sashimi set.

It was not something I usually eat, but the crispy coating and sweet sauce changed the flavor midway through the meal.

The clams steamed in alcohol came with pasta noodles. The amount was suitable for the two of us to share.

We alternated between the clams and pasta while drinking the sake. The broth was also refreshing, which I liked.

Grilled mackerel also arrived with the clams. It was served warm and had thick flesh. I often eat grilled fish, and this mackerel was good as well.
What stood out after finishing with shabu-shabu?
Shabu-shabu came at the end. I had expected seafood hot pot as the finish to a sashimi restaurant meal, so the different combination stayed with me. We were told the meat was beef, and fish cake skewers came with it.

What I liked about this set was being able to eat aged sashimi along with yuringi, clams steamed in alcohol with pasta noodles, and beef shabu-shabu. The table screens also made it seem suitable for a date, family meal, or work-related gathering. Next time, I would like to visit on a Friday evening or Saturday, when I could take my time a little more.
