A sundae-guk meal near Hwadam Botanic Garden in Gonjiam
This is a sundae-guk restaurant that has been opening lots of branches lately, and I went last week too hehe. I was so satisfied that I really wanted to show you!

This is Old Gyeongseong Sundaeguk, Gonjiam Branch (옛날경성순대국 곤지암점), in Gonjiam near Hwadam Botanic Garden in Gwangju, Gyeonggi :) The raw fish next door totally steals the spotlight lol, but it is a sashimi restaurant, so they share the parking lot 😂

The parking lot next door is wide enough to call a large lot, so parking should not be a problem -

Breakfast is available, and uncooked takeout costs ₩18,000 for two portions said to be like three portions!

The inside seemed even bigger than it looked from outside, and the phrase “full of meat, full of care” felt so welcoming 🙂

I went a little after lunch, so there were no customers, but it seemed like it gets busier at peak times o_o The lighting was gently dim rather than super bright, which was nice, and everything was clean ✨

There is a separate self-serve side-dish bar, and even the signs there felt clever and warm(?) 😅 How should I put it? Instead of simply saying “side dishes,” they called them “side dishes ready for you to enjoy,” and saying “beautiful customers” in the environmental message felt respectful somehow 😂

There is ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), garlic, peppers, fresh kimchi, and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), plus a rice cooker beside them—and the reason is unlimited rice 🍚 Unlimited rice at a sundae-guk place! 😮 Eat as much as you can!
Sundae-guk choices for every preference

The menu includes sundae-guk (Korean sausage soup), boiled pork, sliced pork, sool-guk (a soup served as drinking food), and sundae. What is great here is that you can have the sundae-guk exactly how you like it 😋 You can choose regular sundae-guk, dwaeji-gukbap (pork soup with rice), no sundae, no offal, no head meat, sundae only, or offal only~ Portions also come in regular, large, or spicy :3

For dine-in guests, uncooked takeout is ₩17,000 for two portions said to be like three portions, and you can also take home 1 kg each of fresh kimchi and seokbakji (radish kimchi) -

If you take part in a Naver receipt review, you get chewy sundae on the house, so ask a staff member for your receipt!

On the table were spice paste, salted shrimp, peppers, salt, chili oil, perilla seed powder(?), and wet wipes, so you can add whatever you like 🙂

The basic side dishes were ssamjang, peppers, onion, seokbakji, and fresh kimchi, but even the seokbakji and fresh kimchi were restaurant-worthy! The fresh kimchi especially suited my taste so well hehe

At the top is the sundae-guk sliced pork and chewy sundae set; below, the left is sundae-guk with offal only, and the right is the spicy sundae-guk sliced pork and chewy sundae set :) This is the sliced pork and chewy sundae from the set - I usually prefer chewy sundae over other kinds, so I was very happy they had it 😆

Sliced pork and sundae can smell unpleasant if they are not done well, but these had no odor and were delicious 😃 Sliced pork is such a nice occasional treat too!

This sundae-guk has both offal and sundae, with garlic chives and scallions. It has just the right amount of fat, and the broth is milky white~ There is lots of offal and sundae in it too, right? My mom, grandmother, and I are all sensitive to smells, but they said it had no unpleasant odor, tasted clean, and was delicious 😊

Since I love red broth, I picked the spicy sundae-guk 😛 With both offal and sundae! The spicy version also had lots of offal and sundae, and I was surprised by how savory it was even without adding seasoning 😮 It was nicely spicy, tasted richer than the regular sundae-guk, and was delicious b
Odor-free broth and unlimited rice
The sundae-guk had no unpleasant odor and tasted great, and both the set meal and prices were good! Considering the unlimited rice too, I think it is a great value~ I ate well ෆ
