Today I visited Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch, a place where you can enjoy everything from cypress-steamed meat to beef shabu-shabu, rice paper rolls, kalguksu and juk in one sitting. It's a spot where you can eat your fill of fresh meat and vegetables, all-you-can-eat.

The basement lot is a bit narrow, and on Sundays and public holidays you can apparently also park in other designated zones nearby. From noon to 2pm there's no parking enforcement, so street parking nearby is an option too — worth checking with the restaurant before you visit.

Cypress-steamed meat, shabu-shabu, rice paper rolls, beef, kalguksu, juk, salad bar — all of this all-you-can-eat, which felt like really great value given today's dining prices.

1. The salad bar and how many dishes it holds

While the cypress-steamed meat was cooking, I first checked out the salad bar at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch. It was well stocked with everything from fresh vegetables for the rice paper rolls to mushrooms and other ingredients for the shabu-shabu, plus various side dishes.

There's still cypress-steamed meat, shabu-shabu, kalguksu and juk to come, so I shouldn't pile my plate too high right off the bat, haha.

2. Herbal cypress-steamed meat: light and juicy

After a short wait, the herbal cypress-steamed meat arrived. The moment the lid comes off, billowing white steam reveals mouthwatering meat and vegetables.

With the subtle scent of cypress added in, it was light and clean to eat overall.

Dipping the meat and vegetables in sauce was delicious, and wrapping your favorite ingredients in rice paper for a rice paper roll was a treat too.

3. Unlimited beef shabu-shabu refills

After tasting the cypress-steamed meat, I got into the shabu-shabu properly. Being able to have unlimited beef meant no worry about running short — the whole family could eat until full.

After the meat and vegetables, you can add in favorites like dumplings and noodles to make it even heartier.

4. Finishing with kalguksu and juk

Even after having plenty of shabu-shabu, a delicious finish still awaits. Adding kalguksu noodles to the broth — rich with the flavors of meat and vegetables — gives you chewy noodles paired with a deepened broth.

Once you've had the kalguksu, finish off with a savory juk by adding rice and gim (seaweed) flakes to the remaining broth~~ Going through cypress-steamed meat, shabu-shabu, kalguksu and juk in order felt like eating a full course meal — well put together, and I genuinely ate until I nearly burst.
