Why I turned my long hair into a mid-length layered cut at Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom

I booked ahead on Naver and went to Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom (에이바헤어 산본점) for a mid-length layered cut and a full-care clinic. Opening hours are 10:30–20:30, Monday to Sunday.

Right when I got totally sick of my long hair, I felt the urge to chop it into a mid-length layered cut! I'd had long hair all summer and I have really thick hair, so I decided to go for it and headed to Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom. Making time to go just for a clinic is hard, so it's not easy to get myself to a salon... T_T So I went to get a haircut and the full-care clinic together~~~

Getting to Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom: right by Exit 3 of Sanbon Station

Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom is on the 3rd floor of Baegun Building, which you spot right away if you come out of Exit 3 of Sanbon Station and head from Bunsu-daegeori intersection toward Gunpo City Hall. I went by public transport, and it's super easy to find because you see it as soon as you step out of Exit 3!!

What are the salon and shampoo room like at Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom?

The salon is large and tidy, so I never felt cramped during my treatment. I took photos while waiting, and it was so clean and spacious, I loved it! It's a really big space, so I could get my hair done in an open, comfortable atmosphere.

I had the clinic lying down in the shampoo room. The setup lets you lie back comfortably, so I relaxed so much that I actually fell asleep during the clinic, haha^^ The shampoo room was also very clean and well kept, so the clinic was super comfortable.

There's a full-length mirror, so I snapped a photo. Since COVID, Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom has had customers store their bags and put on the gown themselves!

While waiting they set out snacks and warm tea, so I had a cup, haha. Lunchtime was coming up, so I happily polished off the snacks too.

Mid-length layered cut: above or below the shoulder line?

My designer at Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom recommended a length slightly below the shoulder line, since hair that rests on the shoulders can flip out, and I had it cut that way. After consulting, we decided to do the mid-length layered cut first and then move on to the full-care clinic!

I'd gone in debating whether to cut shorter than mid-length, but she advised against a length that lands right on the shoulders because it tends to flare out, so we cut it slightly longer than the shoulder line! Afterwards I thought, I'm glad I went below the shoulders. Now that it's cut, I can tell that hair at that length really does flip out. Guess you should listen to the experts!!

Goodbye, my hair~~~ After the cut there was a whole bundle of hair on the floor.. hahaha. I wondered if it had really been that long, and with my thick hair it was heavy and hot too ^^ so cutting it to mid-length felt so refreshing!! And since it was a design cut, I loved how the layers turned out.

What are the steps of the full-care clinic at Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom?

I received the full-care clinic at Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom in this order: step 1 smoothing, step 2 moisture-elasticity charging, and finally a scalp clinic.

• Step 1: smoothing that fills dry, rough hair with nourishment
• Step 2: moisture-elasticity charging
• Last: scalp clinic

After the layered cut, they first did the initial smoothing with a clinic that packs nourishment into dry, rough hair. Since I could lie back comfortably, the time wasn't boring at all; it was a healing break that melted my fatigue away.

Step 2 was moisture-elasticity charging, and then the scalp clinic at the end felt so refreshing!! They said a full-care clinic normally lasts one to two months, and even after shampooing the clinic seems to linger, so my hair still feels bouncy~~~

Mid-length layered cut after blow-dry: the result

After the blow-dry at Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom, my heavy, thick hair felt much lighter, and the layers fell naturally so my face even looked slimmer. After the final blow-dry my heavy hair really did get so light, didn't it?? The layers fall naturally, so my face shape looks much slimmer and the whole look is chic. Thanks to the clinic my hair is silky soft too, and it feels so good every time I run my hand through it.

Would I go back to Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom?

If you want to get your hair done comfortably in a spacious, pleasant space, and you're planning an autumn style change, I really recommend Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom! My designer was also so kind and thorough that I really liked her. I'm 100% going back next time I get my hair done.
