Noodle and katsu restaurant by Mangpo Station, Suwon: Myeonsikdang

Today my two older kids had a discretionary day off school before the holiday, so the four of us (minus the youngest) went out to eat as a family. We headed to "Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station" near Mangpo Station and had a great meal of pork cutlet, ramen, and rice noodles — here's the review.

Where is Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station, and where do you park?

Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station is located at 195 Yeongtong-ro, Golden Square 1F Unit 102 (East Wing), Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and it's open daily from 10:30 to 21:00. You can park underground in the Golden Square building.

We parked on B2 and took the elevator up to the 1st floor — but make sure you head to the "East Wing." Don't go to the "West Wing" by mistake~~~

What Myeonsikdang looks like from Mangpo Station Exit 3

This Suwon Mangpo Station favorite, "Myeonsikdang," sits right in front of Mangpo Station Exit 3. That makes it super accessible and easy to find.

Inside Myeonsikdang: solo seats, tables for two and four

This Suwon Mangpo-dong favorite, "Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station," has separate solo seats, 2-person tables, and 4-person tables. So you won't feel awkward eating alone here at all. I went around noon and the place filled up completely in no time.

Every dish we ordered at Myeonsikdang, one by one

Even though we ordered several dishes, everything came out at once. It felt intentional, and as a blogger, I was honestly grateful for that lol.

The combination of rice noodles, ramen, and cheese katsu was oddly fresh and interesting lol. It was nice to be able to order everything we were craving at a great price without agonizing over the choice.

Tonkotsu ramen with extra chashu, 12,900 won

This is the tonkotsu ramen (with extra chashu) my wife ordered. Maybe because it had been a while since we'd had it, but it was really delicious. It wasn't spicy at all, so it was sweet and savory in just the right way for the kids to eat — and they finished off all the chashu... lol

There was a generous amount of noodles too, so it seemed like it would be plenty even for a grown man. I didn't get to try it, but my wife said the egg was really good too.

Shabu rice noodles with demi-hire katsu, 14,900 won

And here's the rice noodles the kids had been wanting for a while. It kept the classic rice noodle flavor while having a surprising amount of meat in it. I ate it without adding any extra sauce, and it was great as is.

The noodles were nice and chewy too. You can see our daughter enjoying it, right? lol

Our son had his face buried in the bowl too... so you do like foreign food after all? lol

Mozzarella cheese katsu, 12,500 won

And here's the cheese katsu we ordered for the kids — it comes with 4 pieces, along with rice, salad, and miso soup.

It's filled with savory melted mozzarella cheese. The kids ate it up happily.

Demi-hire katsu: how the pork loin cutlet tasted

And this is the hire (fillet) katsu we ordered as a set with the rice noodles — it comes with sauce poured over it.

I wasn't expecting too much, but it was nicely thick with just the right seasoning.

Fried shrimp, 2 pieces for 4,000 won

We also ordered 2 pieces of fried shrimp, and the kids really loved it. It was so big and tasty it put the fried shrimp you get at raw fish restaurants to shame.

It's rare to see my son eat this well, so watching him enjoy it made me think this place really is a must-visit (sorry, son... haha).

And this is the fire-flavor butadon that came as a set with the tonkotsu ramen — the smoky flavor really hit as soon as you took the first bite. This wasn't spicy at all either, so it was easy for the kids to eat.

Water and side dishes are self-serve — the bar has plates, pickled radish, and kimchi ready to go, so feel free to help yourself.

There's also salt, wasabi, and rice noodle sauce set out, so you can season to your own taste~!

Is Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station good for a family meal?

It had been a while since we'd had a family meal out (minus our youngest), and this Mangpo Station favorite, "Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station," was great — a good variety of dishes at a great price. It satisfied everyone: my husband who loves pork cutlet, my wife who wanted ramen, and our daughter who loves rice noodles — and our second kid ate really well too, so I was very satisfied. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to eat with kids~~^^
