Terrace restaurant in Millak, Busan: fresh mango bingsu at Marento
In short
Marento is a Gwangalli brunch restaurant right in front of Millak Waterside Park in Suyeong, Busan, with terrace seating, pets allowed and a sunset menu after 5 p.m. On an evening during a trip with her husband, the writer had ricotta cheese and fruit salad, pistachio cream gnocchi and sweet fresh mango bingsu (shaved ice), and named the mango bingsu the dessert to order. Marento is a good Millak-dong spot for a light dinner and dessert on a breezy seaside terrace.

Where do you park for Marento at Millak Waterside Park?
Marento (마렌토) is right in front of Millak Waterside Park, so parking at the park's public lot is easy. I had a lovely dinner at Marento, close to the park.
The public lot in front is big, and the restaurant is right across from it, so it's really convenient. Just walk straight from the lot and, ta-da, there's Marento before you even have to look for it. Shall we go inside?

From the entrance, the delicious-looking food tempts your eyes first.

Pets are welcome at Marento too, but please follow these rules.
What are Marento's terrace seats and interior like?

Marento has generous terrace seating at the entrance. The mood seems great for chimaek (fried chicken and beer) in the evening, and the cool sea breeze is so nice.

The interior, which you can enter straight from the terrace as an extension of it, has a different mood. It's wood-toned, comfortable and cozy, a lovely space that's good for dates.
The wall side is wood too, looking as if it's one with the wall, and tidy. The various chairs all have plush cushions, so sitting was comfortable.

A variety of wines is ready to go with the food, so they're nice to enjoy together.

Marento's self bar has pickles, water, cups and napkins. The antique-style furniture adds a nice accent too.
There's also a photo zone with the Marento name, which was perfect for capturing memories in photos. I chose a white table and sat down. Table ordering is available, and napkins, chili powder and salt are set out.

Marento's menu and sunset menu
Marento's menu is divided into set menus, gnocchi and oil pasta, cream pasta, risotto, pilaf and steak, brunch, and pizza, and a sunset menu is added after 5 p.m. I opened the menu and the photos come with detailed descriptions, so choosing was really easy.
Set menus

The best-sellers: gnocchi, oil pasta and cream pasta

Risotto, pilaf, steak and brunch

With pizza and special dishes too, it's a great place for a hearty brunch.
After 5 p.m., the sunset menu brings boiling seafood and various other dishes, and Marento turns into a pub that's good for a drink.

A variety of liquor,

coffee, tea, drinks and bingsu (shaved ice dessert),

and even wine, so you can enjoy it your own way. If you write a receipt review, you get a mini tortilla gorgonzola pizza or an Americano, so why not take part?
A light dinner at Marento: ricotta cheese and fruit salad

I was traveling with my husband and we'd eaten way too much at lunch, so at Marento we ordered just two light dishes first.

Ricotta cheese and fruit salad
Marento's ricotta cheese and fruit salad comes piled generously on a big plate with fresh fruit, vegetables, ricotta cheese and bread. The plating is so pretty, colors and all.
Putting the ricotta and fruit together on top of the bread gives a fun, different taste.

Pistachio cream gnocchi
Marento's pistachio cream gnocchi has pretty round gnocchi with an appealingly chewy texture, and the pistachio cream sauce, deep in flavor and wonderfully smooth, adds aroma too, so it satisfies on both counts.
The tangy, savory chili pickles I brought from the self bar and the sweet-and-sour cucumber pickles were crunchy and tasty too.

Marento's fresh mango bingsu: is it a must-order dessert?
Marento's sweet fresh mango bingsu is a dessert you absolutely have to order. While looking at the menu, the bingsu looked so good that I ordered it as an extra for dessert.

The bowl was flower-shaped, too, and adorable.
The sweet fresh mango bingsu is finely shaved with milk into thread-like ice, topped generously with handmade mango, and the soft, sweet taste fills your mouth with happiness. It's been a long time since I had real bingsu this good. You have to order this for dessert.
