Aewol, Jeju drive café: matcha latte & choc chip scone at Aewolbon

In short

Aewolbon Café is a red two-story ocean-view café and dessert shop at 179 Aewolhaean-ro in Aewol-eup, Jeju. A Jeju local stopped at Aewolbon Café during a drive along the Aewol coastal road and had a blueberry yogurt smoothie (8,500 won), a Jeju matcha latte (7,500 won) and a chocolate chip scone (5,000 won) at a second-floor window seat overlooking the sea. Even by a local's standards for parking, seating and desserts, Aewolbon Café is a good sea-view rest stop, and the Jeju matcha latte with the chocolate chip scone was the standout pairing.

Aewolbon Café main photo with the Aewol sea

When you live on Jeju, you see the Aewol sea a lot, but it puts you in a good mood every single time. Especially when you're driving along the Aewol coastal road, there are moments you just want to stop at a café with an ocean view and rest for a bit. But as a Jeju local, I don't pick a café just because the view is nice. I quietly check whether parking is easy, whether there's room to sit, and whether the drinks and desserts are any good.

Aewolbon Café on the Aewol coastal road

This time I visited Aewolbon Café, right on the Aewol coastal road. Its red building catches your eye, and the sea view from the second floor was especially impressive. I ordered a blueberry yogurt smoothie, a Jeju matcha latte and a chocolate chip scone. Let me tell you about my sweet seaside break.

Where is Aewolbon Café, and what is parking like?

Aewolbon Café is at 179 Aewolhaean-ro, Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju, and you can park for free next to the café. As you travel along the Aewol coastal road, you'll spot the eye-catching red two-story building. The sea spreads out right in front of it, so it's a great place to stop during an Aewol drive.

Aewol coastal road scenery near Aewolbon Café

The area around the Aewol coastal road is popular with tourists, so plenty of places have awkward parking. That's why I always check whether it's easy to park when I visit a café.

Area around Aewolbon Café, easy to reach by car

Aewolbon Café was easy to reach by car, which makes it a good addition to a drive course. I liked that you don't have to go out of your way to see the sea; you can enjoy the scenery at leisure from the café.

The red building and the Aewol sea view

The first thing you notice when you arrive at Aewolbon Café is the red exterior. The building's color contrasts with the blue sea, and it goes together better than I expected.

Jeju has lots of cafés with great sea views, but a building that stands out like this has its own charm. On a clear day, the blue sky, the sea and the red building would make a lovely photo. The Aewol sea seen from around the café felt cool and wide open.

Watching the gentle waves roll in, I felt like I'd briefly escaped my busy daily life. For tourists it's a special scene of a Jeju trip, and for locals it's something familiar yet always welcome, I think.

Thanks to this scenery, it's a place I'd like to recommend to anyone looking for an Aewol café and desserts.

Aewolbon Café's second-floor ocean view: which seat is best?

Indoor seating area at Aewolbon Café

The seat I'd most recommend at Aewolbon Café is the second-floor window seat facing the sea. Inside, there are comfortable seats where you can settle in.

Through the big windows, the whole Aewol sea comes into view. Sitting by the window, it felt like the scenery outside was a giant painting.

The sofa seats in particular were comfortable to lean back in with a drink. Look out the window and you see the blue sea and sky, while inside it's calm, so time seemed to pass slowly.

It's a vibe that suits chatting with a friend, a date with a partner, or coming alone to rest quietly while looking at the sea.

There's also an outdoor terrace, which would be nice on a good day for feeling the sea breeze.

Personally, if you want to feel close to the sea, I'd recommend the second-floor window seats. However, whether a window seat is available can depend on the time you visit.

How do the blueberry yogurt smoothie, Jeju matcha latte and chocolate chip scone taste?

Drinks and dessert ordered at Aewolbon Café

I ordered three items at Aewolbon Café this time.

  • Blueberry yogurt smoothie ₩8,500
  • Jeju matcha latte ₩7,500
  • Chocolate chip scone ₩5,000
Smoothie, matcha latte and chocolate chip scone, the three items

Blueberry yogurt smoothie (₩8,500)

First, the blueberry yogurt smoothie, which I chose expecting the sweet-tart flavor of blueberries and the freshness of yogurt.

The smooth, cold texture typical of a smoothie is a good match to have alongside a dessert.

Smooth, cold blueberry yogurt smoothie

Drinking a cold fruit drink while looking at the sea suited Aewol's relaxed mood especially well.

Jeju matcha latte (₩7,500)

Next is the Jeju matcha latte, a drink that blends the signature bittersweet flavor of Jeju matcha with the softness of milk.

Rather than ordering only sweet items, it's nice to pick a latte where you can taste the tea like this.

Bittersweet Jeju matcha latte

The rich aroma of matcha and the soft milk pair well with desserts that contain chocolate.

Chocolate chip scone (₩5,000)

Last is the chocolate chip scone. A scone is a dessert with a charming crumbly texture and nutty dough flavor. The sweetness of the chocolate chips on top makes it great with coffee or a latte.

It's easy to share bite by bite, and it wasn't heavy to nibble on between sips of a drink.

My favorite combo: matcha latte + chocolate chip scone

Personally, the Jeju matcha latte and chocolate chip scone combination stood out most in this order. The bittersweet flavor of matcha against the sweetness of chocolate makes dessert time more fun. If you like refreshing drinks, the blueberry yogurt smoothie is also worth picking.

An Aewol drive café that even a Jeju local recommends

What stayed with me about Aewolbon Café was less any fancy facility and more the time spent relaxing while looking at the sea. The red exterior, the cool sea view and the comfortable second-floor window atmosphere blended together naturally.

I think it especially suits people driving along the Aewol coastal road. It would be a good place for a date by the sea, a relaxed chat with friends, or a day when you just want to rest quietly alone.

Even for me, a Jeju local, having a drink while looking at the sea is always a happy break. This time I spent it even more leisurely with a blueberry yogurt smoothie, a Jeju matcha latte and a chocolate chip scone.

If you're looking for an Aewol café with desserts along the coastal road, I recommend adding Aewolbon Café, with its charming sea view, to your list.
