Private-room hanwoo BBQ in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon: Worang Myeongga
In short
Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch is a hanwoo (Korean beef) butcher restaurant in Bongmyeong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, where private rooms can be reserved. Four of us, including a newborn, came for my mother's birthday and grilled the hanwoo special assortment (sirloin cap, top blade, ribeye and shrimp cut) over charcoal, then finished with eolgari galbitang (beef rib soup with young cabbage) and doenjang jjigae. With a parking lot right out front and strong ventilation, Worang Myeongga worked easily for a family meal with a baby.

You've gotta eat hanwoo (Korean beef) for Mom and Dad's anniversaries, that's just how it is! I heard Worang Myeongga, a hanwoo place in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon, was famous, so I booked a room right away and went. With a newborn in tow, a private room was non-negotiable, but the space was so clean and spacious that we could use the stroller comfortably, hehe.
Where to park at Worang Myeongga in Bongmyeong-dong, Daejeon
Worang Myeongga Daejeon Yuseong Main Branch has a parking lot right in front of the restaurant. We came with my parents in two cars and had zero issues!

Parking is such a big deal when eating out in Daejeon — every single time it's stressed me out and annoyed me — but Worang Myeongga had none of that parking-hell worry, which was such a relief (love it) 👍🏼
Inside Worang Myeongga: private rooms and the self-serve corner
The interior of Worang Myeongga was really spacious and clean. The self-serve corner had fruit and acorn jelly type desserts, great for finishing off the meal!

The spacing between tables was generous too, so it looked comfortable even outside the private rooms.

How ordering works at a butcher restaurant, and why the special assortment
Worang Myeongga is a butcher restaurant, so you pick your cuts with your own eyes, pay, then grill it yourself at the table! Since it was my mom's birthday, we went with the hanwoo special assortment!
There's a wide range of cuts, and the staff recommend combinations based on your group size and preferences, so you can visit even if you know nothing about beef! They're genuinely tasteful about it, so if you just say 'give me the good stuff' with a smile, that's exactly what you'll get. That's the mark of a real gem of a restaurant.
Side dishes and yuk sashimi (raw beef) to start
The banchan (side dishes) came out so clean and generous, and tasted great too...!! They also gave us yuk-sashimi (raw beef tartare), and I was shocked at how ridiculously good it was; it was so fresh I wanted more right away (drooling).

What's in the hanwoo special assortment, and is it enough for 4?
For 4 people, the special assortment was just the right amount — filling without getting tiresome. It was all crowd-pleasing cuts with no misses, so everything was delicious, ㅠㅠ. Just looking at the color and marbling was insane, I want it again already.
The special hanwoo assortment was made up mostly of top-grade specialty cuts and grilling cuts with gorgeous marbling! It came with sirloin cap (salchisal), shoulder tender flat (buchaesal, my favorite!), ribeye rose (kkotdeungsim), and shrimp meat cut (saeusal)!!

Grilling hanwoo over charcoal with garlic oil dipping sauce
While we waited, the charcoal came out, and it was genuinely great charcoal, so I started getting excited. Why? Because grilling over charcoal makes everything a hundred times tastier ^^b From my camping trips, I know that a charcoal fire glowing red is just... an irresistible color that makes you want to grill everything on it. It had been so long since childbirth that I got a little nervous about the charcoal grill, hehe.

Maybe because of the good charcoal, even though I'm bad at grilling, it tasted heavenly, borderline tears-inducing... We asked them to set us up with garlic oil sauce to grill on the plate, and they got it ready right away! This is my mom's signature move, and it's genuinely delicious, haha. Everyone should ask for this separately and grill it in garlic oil. Twice as tasty!! Grilled garlic is the best!!

Charcoal grilling with a newborn: how good is the ventilation?
The meat was so tender, soft, and just incredibly delicious. This was the first grilled-meat place I'd been to since giving birth, and the ventilation was so good that it felt totally fine to bring the baby along — that was one of the things I was really happy about.

Eolgari galbitang and doenjang jjigae to finish the meal
In our family, it's an unspoken rule that even when eating meat, you always order a proper meal course too, so we ordered those at Worang Myeongga as well. There's a wide range of options, so it's fun picking through them. I'm so sad we didn't get to have the naengmyeon (cold noodles) — next time I'm definitely getting the Hamhung mul-naengmyeon, drooling already.

We ordered the classic meat-restaurant duo, doenjang jjigae and eolgari galbitang, and the eolgari galbitang was genuinely spicy-hot, loaded with meat, and just absurdly good — I really hope everyone orders it... Ordering the eolgari galbitang comes with one bowl of rice, so keep that in mind when you order ^.<

Verdict: is Worang Myeongga worth it for a family meal with a baby?
Honestly, I'd been secretly worried about taking a baby not even a year old to a charcoal grill place. There weren't any reviews of people visiting Worang Myeongga with a baby either, so I was on the fence, but I decided to just go for it — and because it's such a big restaurant, it was so clean and well-ventilated that both the baby and I could relax and enjoy the delicious charcoal-grilled meat, which made me so, so happy!!
The meal courses were also prepared so deliciously that I think this would be a great place to visit especially for your parents' birthdays or anniversaries!! I'd absolutely, absolutely come back.
