Anseong bakery café before Aquafield: apple crumble cake, Chat Baker
In short
Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café is a 500-pyeong (about 1,650 m²) brunch and bakery café in Gongdo-eup, Anseong, near Anseong Farmland. Before heading into Aquafield, the writer stopped at Chat Baker for handmade breads such as salt bread and Gongju chestnut loaf, plus apple crumble cake, cappuccino and royal milk tea, and used the self-bar Balmuda oven. Thanks to its bread and spacious, comfortable seating, Chat Baker is an Anseong café worth a special trip.

What is Chat Baker, the café near Anseong Farmland, like?
Chat Baker is a stylish 500-pyeong bakery café in Gongdo, Anseong, and it's even better known as a café near Farmland, which is right nearby. Dream wanted to splash around, so we went to Anseong Aquafield, and before going in we stopped at Chat Baker, a big Anseong café with a fantastic bakery. I completely fell for this place, honestly.

Chat Baker has handmade bakery items baked fresh every day and coffee brewed by professional baristas, so it's truly a happy place for your mouth.

Are the seats and interior at Chat Baker comfortable?
At 500 pyeong with really comfortable seats, Chat Baker is a café you could happily spend all day in. The interior feels both natural and refined, really gorgeous, so just visiting is healing. Many aesthetic cafés have uncomfortable seats or too few of them, but Chat Baker was different.

Chat Baker bakery selection and best sellers
I thought about ordering brunch at Chat Baker, but because of our Aquafield entry time we only had bakery items and drinks. In the end, the bakery was a total win too. See that showcase quality? The showcase itself is automatic, and there were so many breads at such friendly prices that choosing was really hard.

These aren't just shipped-in baked goods; they're handmade in-house, so the variety is unusual and the flavor is so good. We enjoyed everything so much.

Chat Baker has more than 80 kinds of handmade bread alone, and beyond bread there are cakes, sandwiches, cookies and baked sweets, pretty much every kind of bakery item.

Chat Baker's top 5 are salt bread, red bean butter salt bread (ang-butter), ciabatta sandwich, white cream roll and Gongju chestnut loaf (bread made with Gongju chestnuts). We picked a really wide variety of breads, including the salt bread and chestnut loaf.

Chat Baker's 1st and 2nd floors and floor-seating vibe
Chat Baker has the charm of the first floor and a different charm upstairs. The greenery seen beyond the café is lovely, and the sculpture in the middle of the café is impressive too, a really moving space. It's good for families or dates, but it's so big and quiet, with tables spaced far apart, that it's also a good Anseong café for studying.

We settled into Chat Baker's floor seating. The sunlight was so warm, the temperature pleasantly cool, and the smell of bread so good that just sitting there was healing.

How do the apple crumble cake, cappuccino and royal milk tea taste?
Everything we ordered at Chat Baker was delicious, but the apple crumble cake that K picked first was truly a work of art.

From bread to cake to drinks, everything was flawless at Chat Baker, the Anseong bakery café.

K ordered a cappuccino and I ordered a royal milk tea. The drinks were high quality and went really well with the bread.

Tip: using the Balmuda oven at Chat Baker's self-bar
If you time your visit right, Chat Baker in Anseong lets you eat freshly made bread, but if you want it even tastier, you can use the Balmuda oven at the self-bar.

The Balmuda toaster is said to bring dead bread back to life, and the Balmuda oven here is, I'd say, 100 times better than that toaster, so you can enjoy the bakery even more.

Packing leftover bread and final thoughts
There was so much delicious bread at Chat Baker that I got a little greedy and had leftovers, but I packed them up neatly and enjoyed them at home.

I'm honestly a bit shocked that Anseong has a café this pretty, with such variety in drinks and bakery items, and friendly prices too.

Chat Baker, the Anseong Farmland café, has quality and space good enough to visit on purpose. Next time I want to bring my parents, my sibling's family, and my friends.
