4 things I look for in a breakfast-replacement misugaru
I've been so busy lately that I've been eating misugaru (roasted multigrain powder) as a breakfast replacement! And this one is sweet, nutty and really tasty, so I brought it here to introduce it. 😆 It's Garu Seonsaeng (Garu Seonsaeng) 18-Grain Misugaru. 🥛
When it comes to what I eat for breakfast, I really check and think things over carefully. 🤔 There were 4 things I cared about most when buying this misugaru.
- Is it a safe food with no synthetic additives?
- Are the nutrients and calories reasonable?
- Can it be prepared quickly and easily?
- Does it taste good?
And Garu Seonsaeng 18-Grain Misugaru met all 4 of those conditions! Now let me give you an honest review. 😉
What's in the box and how Garu Seonsaeng 18-Grain Misugaru is packaged

First, when you order, you get one 500g bag of misugaru, a scoop and an instruction sheet.

The instruction sheet explains how to prepare it, the expiry date, how to store it and so on. It also says it uses 100% natural ingredients rather than synthetic additives, which made me feel even more at ease. 👍

The main product lists the 18 grains it contains, along with detailed nutrition information. Because it uses unrefined raw cane sugar, the calories are low and the sugar isn't high, so you can have a filling breakfast without worrying about your health.

It's a zip bag, so it was easy to store after opening!

The powder is incredibly fine. It says it dissolves well in water, and maybe because the powder is so fine, it really does. With powdered products I've often seen fine metal particles turn up, so I was worried, but they say Garu Seonsaeng 18-Grain Misugaru uses advanced equipment so there's nothing to worry about! Now, shall we see how well it dissolves in water? 😉
Two scoops in 180ml of water, stirred with just one chopstick

First I mixed it with plain water, the most basic way. Following the instruction sheet, I put two scoops of misugaru into 180ml of water. To really test whether it dissolves well, I went extreme and stirred with only one chopstick!
See that..! The powder floating on top vanished in an instant when I stirred it with the chopstick. 🫢

This is after mixing, and I really stirred it with nothing but a chopstick. It dissolved without a single clump from just one chopstick, so it's easy to make even on a busy morning. 🫶

What does it taste like in milk? Compared with water
Next I mixed it with milk! I actually prefer my misugaru with milk.

Dissolving well goes without saying, and with milk it was really nutty and sweet, so delicious. 🤤 I like my misugaru sweet, so I usually add honey or sugar, but Garu Seonsaeng misugaru is tasty enough without any of that. If you warm the milk, it's almost like drinking yulmu-cha (job's tears tea), and the sweet grain flavor comes through strongly. 👍

Here are the milk and water versions side by side, and the milk one was clearly lighter in color. But the milk one tasted much richer and nuttier. My pick is milk, but my mother, who prefers a clean sweetness, said the water one was moderately sweet and delicious. Everyone in the family can have it the way they like, which makes it even better. 😖
To sum up
Garu Seonsaeng 18-Grain Misugaru
Garu Seonsaeng 18-Grain Misugaru, great as a breakfast replacement, has safety, convenience and taste all covered. It's also not heavy on calories or sugar, so it's an easy breakfast sunsik (grain powder meal). If you're looking for a sweet, tasty misugaru or a breakfast-replacement grain powder, I recommend Garu Seonsaeng 18-Grain Misugaru!
