Black pork ogyeopsal vs Boseong Nokdon, Bucheon BBQ: Cham Dwaejitgan
In short
Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is a 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant on the main street by Sinjung-dong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. On a late-night visit for two, the writer ordered three servings in total — one black pork ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly, 19,000 won) and two Boseong Nokdon samgyeopsal (pork belly, 16,000 won) — and staff grilled both cuts at the table for a side-by-side comparison. The ogyeopsal was chewy while the Boseong Nokdon was tender with richer fat flavor, so either cut works depending on your preference.

Hellooo~~ Today's story starts with a sudden late-night craving for pork belly! I went looking for a BBQ place open late and found one near Sinjung-dong Station in Bucheon that's open 24 hours AND has good meat quality, so I rushed over — here's my review of Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch, a Bucheon samgyeopsal (pork belly) spot!

The exterior

This Bucheon samgyeopsal spot is about an 8-minute walk from Sinjung-dong Station~ It's right on the station's main street and the building itself is pretty big, so it really stands out!
What the restaurant feels like late at night

The interior is spacious too, and probably because it's open 24 hours, there were quite a lot of people eating even at that late hour!
Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong menu and prices

Here's the menu at this Bucheon samgyeopsal spot! We ordered black pork ogyeopsal (150g) for ₩19,000, and Boseong Nokdon samgyeopsal (150g) x2 for ₩16,000 each!
(I went back and forth between just getting black pork or just Boseong Nokdon, but since I was curious about both — hey, it's our first time, let's try both! — we mixed it up and ordered 3 servings total hahaha. We were going to order a rice dish afterward too, but so many side dishes came out, and 3 servings for two of us was already so filling that we gave up on that..!)

The unusual grill plate that uses residual heat
This Bucheon samgyeopsal spot has a pretty unusual grill! They cook the meat on that round section in the middle, then move it to the flat part of the grill — thanks to the residual heat there, we could keep eating it warm till the very end!!

When you order, they set up the side dishes like this and put minari (water dropwort), bean sprouts, and kimchi on the grill for you

You can also easily grab any extra side dishes you want from the self-serve bar!
Meat quality and the tableside grilling service

After a short wait the meat arrived pretty quickly! True to a good Bucheon samgyeopsal spot, even the raw meat looked really high quality

While they were grilling the meat, they told us the cooked minari goes well with the shiitake wasabi, so we tried it first — the minari was so fragrant and paired perfectly with the shiitake wasabi!

Another great thing about Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is that it's open 24 hours AND they grill the meat for you..!! People like me with clumsy hands who can't grill meat well really need places that do it for you, and they took great care of everything — side dishes, sides, the meat — so we could just relax and eat!!

The samgyeopsal and ogyeopsal grilled so nicely and beautifully! Just look at that ㅠㅠ, it really looks so delicious ㅠㅠㅠ

And once cooked they set the pieces down separately, keeping the ogyeopsal and samgyeopsal apart — such a thoughtful touch!!!
There were also lots of sauces so you could try different combinations! The classic combo is even written out on the side hahaha

Black pork ogyeopsal vs Boseong Nokdon samgyeopsal: taste comparison
First I tried the black pork ogyeopsal in the basic combo — wasabi and salt — and it was so chewy and delicious!

For comparison, I also tried the Boseong Nokdon samgyeopsal with the same combo! It was really tasty too! The black pork ogyeopsal, since it has the skin attached, felt chewier with a firmer, springier texture, while the Boseong Nokdon samgyeopsal was softer with a more noticeable fat flavor!
Both have their own charm, but I personally love that soft fat flavor, so if I come back I think I'd go for the Boseong Nokdon samgyeopsal! Both are delicious, so just pick whichever suits your taste!

Potato slices and minari (water dropwort) with the pork
Once the meat is all grilled, you can use the residual heat to cook the potato slices like this!
Minari with samgyeopsal — need I say more, it's a classic combo,, fragrant minari with savory, tender pork belly!! So delicious

One bite with the potato slices too! First time wrapping meat in potato slices, and it worked so well and tasted great!

Crispy fried potato, meat, wasabi, spicy sauce, and a little of the cabbage salad side dish — this combo was my favorite way to eat it haha

Final verdict: would I go back to Cham Dwaejitgan?
So that was my visit to Cham Dwaejitgan near Sinjung-dong Station, a Bucheon samgyeopsal spot! 24-hour restaurants usually have slightly lower food quality, but Cham Dwaejitgan had great food quality, the grilling service, and a spacious dining room — lots of strengths! I also loved that they served a variety of side dishes so you could try different combinations! I'd recommend it to anyone living in Bucheon, and that's all for today — ate well again!
⭐ Final verdict — If you're looking for a Bucheon samgyeopsal spot open late, go with Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch~
- Pros: Open 24 hours, delicious meat, wide variety of side dishes, they grill it for you
- Cons: Not really any…?
- Would I return: Yes (I'd probably come here if I get a late-night craving for meat)
