Hi, it's Lovely-ing haha. Today I'm showing you a Hwajeong Station favorite, the shabu-shabu spot Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Ilsan Hwajeong Branch. If you're looking for a delicious, good-value all-you-can-eat place near Hwajeong Station, I really recommend this one! Let me show you exactly what it's like.

Where is Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Hwajeong, and where do you park?
I arrived at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Ilsan Hwajeong Branch, on the 3rd floor of the Chelsea Building, a 3-minute walk from Hwajeong Station Exit 1 — it's the Jjang Arcade building! The lot is mechanical parking, so I used the E-mart parking lot right out front instead haha.
Walking inside, the first thing you see is a row of the herbal medicine ingredients used in the cedar steam.
Heading further in, the space is really big with lots of tables. There's even group seating, so it'd be great for gatherings, work dinners, or a casual meal out (baby chairs available).
We sat right by the window. The window seats were clearly the popular spot!

Prices and the five broths: which two we chose
Here's the menu at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Hwajeong Branch. Dinner and weekend prices are the same, and depending on which broth you choose, it runs 20,900–22,900 won. There are five broths: katsuo, spicy mushroom, doenjang chicken, bone-mala, and bone-tomato. We ordered katsuo and bone-mala haha.

They're also running a Naver receipt review event, so if you take part you get a free drink haha.

After ordering, I also read up on how to enjoy the meal even more. Besides the cedar steam and shabu-shabu, you can also have tri-color dumplings, kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), and egg porridge haha.

What's on the salad bar at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan?
Soon after, a staff member set up our cedar steam haha. As the herbal medicine scent drifted while it steamed away, I ran over to the salad bar!

The salad bar is set up big right in the center of the restaurant~
There's beef for the shabu-shabu, refill broth, rice paper roll vegetables, and shabu-shabu vegetables, all laid out neatly. I even got it on video!

On the other side there's tteokbokki, pasta, french fries, soup, bread, rice, and porridge ingredients haha.

I piled up a variety of rice paper roll ingredients from the salad bar and grabbed plenty of rice paper too! The sauces were already set up at every table, which was convenient >.<
Cedar-steamed pork, rice paper rolls and the free refill
When the timer went off, the staff opened up the steamer for us! It was loaded with beef, shrimp, mushrooms, and all kinds of vegetables — it looked amazing haha.
Load vegetables and meat onto the rice paper, roll it up nicely, dip in the peanut sauce — absolute honey....!!

I feel like you always end up refilling the cedar steam at least once lol. Eating it alongside vegetables feels healthy too, and above all it's just so delicious!!

Bone-broth mala shabu-shabu and the fish cake skewers worth ordering
Around the time we finished off our refilled cedar steam, we asked for the shabu-shabu. Our broths were katsuo and bone-mala, and you can adjust the mala sauce to your taste~ They squeezed the mala sauce in so nicely I had to get a close-up haha.

While the broth boils, they also prep the shabu-shabu ingredients. I found adding fish cake skewers into the shabu-shabu ridiculously good?! You have to try the fish cake skewers! Highly recommend!

Both broths were delicious, and boiling them with plenty of fresh vegetables and meat made the broth even richer!

The bone-mala broth was especially good for me! Even after refilling the cedar steam, the shabu-shabu was still so tasty that I just kept eating lol.
Is Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Hwajeong worth it?

The cedar steam cooked deliciously with healthy herbal ingredients, plus shabu-shabu with whatever you want to throw in — top-tier haha.
