Gyeongju dessert shop: fig yogurt mochi instead of lunch, Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a fruit mochi and persimmon sando dessert shop on Sajeong-ro along Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju. After a walk around Cheomseongdae, the writer picked four items at Tareudang — fig yogurt mochi, persimmon yogurt mochi, red bean butter fig persimmon sando and strawberry persimmon sando — and one fig yogurt mochi was filling enough to stand in for a skipped lunch. A solid pick for a snack mid-trip in Gyeongju or a dessert with coffee back at your hotel.

🍓 Gyeongju travel snack recommendation | Tareudang
A special snack you shouldn't skip in Gyeongju
Traveling around Gyeongju, there are so many pretty cafés and delicious desserts!! Good restaurants are great, but grabbing a special snack in between sightseeing is one of the big joys of a trip too.
"I ate one because I was hungry — and it was way more filling than I expected: fig yogurt mochi 💚" Let me introduce it now.

How to get to Tareudang, and where to park
Tareudang is at 49 Sajeong-ro, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongbuk, in Hwangnidang-gil. By public transit — from Gyeongju Station (KTX, SRT), take bus 50, 51, 70, 700, or 710 and get off at "Naenam-sageori," a 5-minute walk away.
- Hwangnam public parking lot: 3-minute walk (closest)
- Daereungwon public parking lot: 8-minute walk (convenient after visiting Cheonmachong)
- Bonghwangdae public parking lot: 10-minute walk

Since I planned to visit after walking around Cheomseongdae, I used the Cheonmachong roadside lot. *₩500 for the first 30 minutes, ₩200 per additional 10 minutes.

What Tareudang promises, and its signature mochi
Tareudang says it stands behind three promises.
- Fresh every morning: made same-day, sold same-day, serving only the crispiest, freshest tarts
- Premium ingredients: carefully selected butter, seasonal fruit, savory cheese, and other quality ingredients
- Thoughtful packaging: sleek packaging good enough to give as a gift to someone special

Tareudang's signature menu items are the yogurt mango mochi and the fresh Shine Muscat mochi.

The four desserts picked at Tareudang
Alright! Time to order. Just looking at the case, every dessert had so much personality that I spent a while deciding — and this is what I picked. 🤎
- 🍡 Persimmon yogurt mochi
- 🍡 Fig yogurt mochi
- 🍡 Red bean butter fig persimmon sando
- 🍡 Strawberry persimmon sando
Four in total! Even the names sound different from your average dessert, right?

Especially since these desserts use persimmon and fig, they felt like a pretty special snack for a Gyeongju trip.

Honestly I love fig ♡ and persimmon ♡ so much ❤️ And the packaging was so~~ cute too!
Fig yogurt mochi: the top pick that stood in for lunch
Of the four I tried at Tareudang, my top pick was the fig yogurt mochi. I'd skipped lunch and was really hungry, but this one mochi alone left me quite full.

💚 My top pick is the fig yogurt mochi! I tried several, but this was the one I liked best.
For starters, the mochi itself is really big. Don't picture the typical one-bite mochi — haha.

Inside the chewy mochi skin is soft yogurt cream and red bean, plus the fig's mild sweetness and texture on top — the balance was much better than I expected.

Best of all, it was really good with iced Americano. ☕️ It's slightly sweet with a refreshing yogurt tang, so a sip of coffee then a bite of mochi kept my hand reaching back for more!
I hadn't had lunch and was truly hungry, but one fig yogurt mochi left me quite full. It's big and generously filled, so it felt less like a light dessert and more like a proper Gyeongju travel snack. 😆
Red bean butter fig persimmon sando: several textures in one bite
The second thing I tried was Tareudang's red bean butter fig persimmon sando. It's a combination of red bean paste, butter, fig, and persimmon all at once.

The second one I tried 🤎 red bean butter fig persimmon sando — doesn't the name alone sound delicious? haha

The sweetness of the red bean paste, the savory softness of the butter, plus fig and persimmon on top — I could taste several flavors and textures in a single piece. If you like sweet desserts, this one's worth a look.
Strawberry persimmon sando: the prettiest cross-section to photograph
Third up is the strawberry persimmon sando. It had the prettiest coloring of anything on Tareudang's menu, making it great for photos.

The third one I'll introduce, 🍓 strawberry persimmon sando, looked gorgeous just from the color.

The distinct sweetness of persimmon, the tartness of strawberry, and soft cream all come together, so it looked delicious even before I took a bite.

Especially when cut in half, you can see it's packed full of filling — a great one for photos. 📸
Persimmon yogurt mochi: the one to have with coffee or tea
The fourth thing I tried, Tareudang's persimmon yogurt mochi, combines chewy mochi skin, yogurt cream, and the sweetness of persimmon.

🍡 The persimmon yogurt mochi is also chewy, chewy — a mix of chewy mochi, yogurt cream, and persimmon sweetness.

Overall soft and sweet, it was great to enjoy with coffee or tea.
Packaging and storage: the free cooler bag and what to watch for
🎁 It also packs up well as a Gyeongju travel snack. Like I did, you can eat it right away while sightseeing, take it back to your hotel for coffee, or bring it home as a snack after your trip. 🧡

I actually packed several to bring along, and they were wrapped so nicely that it was easy to carry them around as a snack during the trip.

Buy 3 or more and write a review to get a free box + cooler bag.

*I'd recommend buying only as much fruit mochi as you'll eat that day — freezing it isn't recommended.
Is Tareudang worth a stop on Hwangnidang-gil?
I ate a lot of great things on this Gyeongju trip, but of the snacks I had, Tareudang's fig yogurt mochi stuck with me the most. A big, chewy mochi with soft yogurt cream and the sweetness of fig 💚 — especially good paired with coffee!
If you're looking for something simple to eat when you're peckish during a Gyeongju trip, or a dessert to enjoy back at your hotel, I'd recommend Tareudang's fig yogurt mochi. ☕️🍡
*Honestly, when I visited Seongsu-dong, I waited 30 minutes for Hanjeongseon's fruit mochi — and personally, I thought Tareudang was way better! haha
