Family-friendly Osong udon restaurant in Cheongju: cheese pork cutlet
In short
Haengbokhan Udon Gage Cheongju Osong Branch is a udon specialist near Osong Station in Cheongju that pulls its own noodles fresh over 24 hours. On a summer-vacation visit with two children, the order was fish cake udon and cheese pork cutlet: the noodles were springy under a generous pile of fried tofu and crown daisy, and the cutlet used unfrozen pork loin, so it stayed tender. Baby chairs, disposable aprons and a self-serve side dish bar made Haengbokhan Udon Gage an easy meal out with kids.

Visited Haengbokhan Udon Gage, the udon specialist near Osong Station!!
I'm the mom of my udon-loving girl and boy duo, spending every day of summer vacation wondering what to feed them. Not much left of break, so let's push through!! Today we went on an outing to Osong and tried some delicious udon. It was tastier than the udon we usually eat, so it might just become our regular spot — shall we go together to Haengbokhan Udon Gage, the udon restaurant everyone raves about in Osong?

Parking and takeout at Haengbokhan Udon Gage in Osong, Cheongju
I heard that Haengbokhan Udon Gage Osong Branch allows street parking right in front of the restaurant during lunch hours. Since we drove, having somewhere easy to park was great. Also, apparently all menu items can be taken out. Just so you know.

What else is on the menu besides udon?
Haengbokhan Udon Gage doesn't only sell udon, so there's the added fun of picking based on your own taste! You can visit without worry even if you're not into noodle dishes. They sell a variety of dishes like spicy pork rice bowl, buckwheat soba, gakgi udon (thick hand-cut noodle soup), old-style pork cutlet, and more. Osong pork cutlet, Osong Station udon!

Inside: an old-fashioned Korean schoolroom mood
The atmosphere felt like an old Korean elementary school? Haha. I'm a mom who loves this kind of nostalgic interior. It was such a comfortable atmosphere that we had an enjoyable meal together with the kids.

Why Haengbokhan Udon Gage works with kids: baby chairs, aprons, self-serve sides
Baby chair for little guests — check! There was even a coat hanger to store outerwear, plus disposable aprons ready for self-serve use. Nice that you can just help yourself if you need one.

Any side dishes running low can be topped up self-serve, which took the pressure off. I love pickled radish, so I brought just enough to finish without waste. It was super crunchy and delicious.

House-made fish cake udon: how were the noodles?
My kids love udon way too much! So of course we ordered udon again today. They apparently pull the noodles themselves, tended to with care, 24 hours a day. We ordered expecting something extra special from the noodles.

Slurping away with big noodle-sucking sounds, my kids dove right into udon-eating mode. Because it's house-made, the chewiness of the udon noodles was on another level. Those noodles kept pulling me back in — so good!! Fried tofu piled generously, crown daisy piled generously — this was the fish cake udon at Haengbokhan Udon Gage, the udon specialist near Osong Station, and the toppings were not held back.

Cheese pork cutlet hand-made from unfrozen pork loin
This is the cheese pork cutlet, piled high with cheese. I heard it's a hand-made cutlet made in-house. Rice comes in a generous portion too, and the sauce is for dipping! It's served with a cabbage salad drizzled with ketchup-mayo dressing.

Apparently the cutlet is made in-house using unfrozen pork loin. Maybe that's why the meat wasn't tough and had no off smell, with a tenderness I really liked. We decided to try the old-style pork cutlet next time. Osong pork cutlet, Haengbokhan Udon Gage!

Dunking it deep into the cutlet sauce was so good! I'm usually not a sauce person, but maybe because the flavor wasn't too strong, it went really well with the cheese cutlet and I liked it. Totally fell for the savory charm of the cheese.

My eldest daughter, stretching the cheese long as she eats the cheese cutlet, going 'look how much it stretches!' Secret: my picky-eater-lately eldest daughter had her appetite come roaring back today. So happy she ate more than usual. Diet starts again tomorrow! Mom enjoyed a cheat day too.

Would we go back? The verdict after finishing the broth
True to being udon maniacs, we downed the broth to the very last drop! Apparently the broth flavor is out of this world. Everyone ate so happily that we decided to come back next time. If you're planning a trip out to Osong near Cheongju, how about a delicious bowl of udon here at Haengbokhan Udon Gage? Come get some good udon at this Osong restaurant — highly recommend for a tasty meal.
