Osan bar for baseball and draft beer: Beer Ground Unam

After dinner around Unam in Osan, I was looking for somewhere nice to have a light beer and stopped by Beer Ground Unam Branch (비어그라운드 운암점). It is near the east gate of Unam Public Parking Lot, next to Boyak Jokbal and Mom's Touch, so it was not hard to find.

The red sign really caught my eye from outside, and the atmosphere immediately made it clear that chicken and draft beer were the stars here.

A good place around Unam in Osan for chicken and a beer. What stood out most was that you can watch baseball broadcasts.

The sign at the entrance said live baseball could be shown on four TVs, so you can watch several games at once. It seems like a good place to visit on game days if you love baseball. There were actually several TVs inside too, making it easy to settle in and watch comfortably.

Outdoor-drinking vibes and a spacious pub-like interior

There was also an open-feeling outdoor table area to the side of the restaurant. It had a little of that ya-jang, or outdoor drinking, atmosphere people talk about these days, so it would be perfect for chicken and draft beer on a nice day.

Inside, the dim lighting and neon signs gave it a proper pub feel. There was even a neon sign that said, “Another drink today.”

The décor using liquor bottles also caught my eye.

Overall, it felt less overly loud or hectic and more like a comfortable place to drink beer with friends.

Soy sauce chicken with Kirin draft beer

There was a wide range of draft beers. Beer Ground Unam Branch also sold Japanese premium drafts including Kirin, Asahi, and Asahi Black. The posted price was ₩5,900.

This time, we ordered soy sauce chicken and three Kirin draft beers. The beer was cold, with a soft head of foam, and went nicely with the chicken. Beer really is the best match for chicken.

Complimentary snack for visits before 7 p.m.

There was also a perk for visiting around opening time. According to the sign, draft-beer orders from opening until before 7 p.m. came with complimentary fries. We arrived early, so we got the free snack too.

It came with not only fries but several kinds of fried items, making it nice to pick at while drinking beer. It was free, but the portion was quite generous—enough for a first snack.

Basic snacks, too

A light snack also came as the basic bar snack. It was good while waiting for the chicken, or as something to have with one more beer.

We also ordered cola, so it did not feel awkward to visit with someone who does not drink alcohol.

Crispy soy sauce chicken

The main event that day was the soy sauce chicken. It arrived piled generously on a plate, coated in a very appetizing soy sauce. The batter was on the crisp side, while the sauce was not overly salty or intense, so it went well with beer.

The chicken pieces were large enough to share among several people, and it was enjoyable in that crispy-outside, juicy-inside style. The chicken properly did its job as the main drinking snack. A piece of soy sauce chicken followed by a cold sip of Kirin draft beer—that was exactly the combination you would expect.

Are there plenty of snacks besides chicken?

Beer Ground Unam Branch does not sell chicken alone; it has quite a varied snack menu. Along with fried chicken, seasoned chicken, and soy sauce chicken, there are beer-friendly dishes such as puff pastry pizza, fries, and kimchi udon. Looking through reviews, it seems many people also order half pizzas or spicy kimchi udon. It seemed good for a filling first stop, or for a lighter second stop with chicken and draft beer.

Beer Ground Unam Branch was a decent place to go when I wanted to watch baseball in Osan Unam with chicken and a draft beer. The multiple TVs made it good for sports, and the soy sauce chicken with cold draft beer was a reliably nice combination. Add in the complimentary snack available for early visits, and it felt like good value too. If you are looking for a chicken-and-beer place in Osan, it is worth keeping in mind for an easy drink with friends!
