Pocheon pasta restaurant: abalone pesto pasta with lemon, Eoneu Dal

In short

Eoneu Dal (어느달) is a pasta restaurant near a village hall in a rural village on Jeongmundong-gil in Pocheon, Gyeonggi. The writer and a friend booked a weekday 1 PM table on Catch Table and ordered the abalone pasta of the month (22,000 won), a shrimp salad and a mushroom pilaf; a squeeze of lemon halfway through brought out the abalone pasta's flavor. Eoneu Dal is busy enough that reservations are a must even on weekdays, but it is a Pocheon pasta spot worth coming back to with family.

Abalone pasta, the pasta of the month at Eoneu Dal in Pocheon

This is my review of the abalone pasta, the pasta of the month at Eoneu Dal (어느달), a pasta restaurant in Pocheon. My friend and I had been saying "let's go sometime" for ages, and we finally made it to this Pocheon favorite.

Where is Eoneu Dal in Pocheon, and is parking easy?

Eoneu Dal is a restaurant at 54 Jeongmundong-gil, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, near a little village hall, and the parking lot in front is large, which is convenient. It's honestly a location I never expected, but it fits right in with the village scenery and is just so pretty.

Do you need a reservation at Eoneu Dal?

You can reserve ahead on Catch Table (a Korean restaurant booking app), and a reservation is a must whether it's a weekday or the weekend. We booked 1 PM on a weekday through the app to match our meeting time, and if we hadn't, we would have had to wait.

Eoneu Dal's atmosphere and QR ordering

The restaurant was so full that I couldn't take photos when we walked in. Around the time we got up, the front area was a little empty, so I snapped the interior. It was a bright midday, so the blinds were down, but the light still seeped in and looked lovely.

Behind the pretty partition wall behind the sofa seats are the kitchen and the area where the staff move around. There's also a baby chair that's just as pretty and matches the interior.

To order, you scan the QR code on each table and enter your order. For older guests, the staff kindly helped them through it. Service satisfaction goes up ^^

What we ordered at Eoneu Dal and the prices

  • Pasta of the month (abalone) ₩22,000
  • Shrimp salad ₩18,000
  • Mushroom pilaf ₩17,000
  • Cider ₩3,000

Even the water at Eoneu Dal was thoughtful, with nothing lacking. The water bottle had lemon and dill in it, so the colors were pretty and the scent was lovely. It put me in a great mood.

There were also nicely decorated corners in colors similar to the water bottle. An empty seat opened up and I thought about sitting there, but sure enough, I watched it get set up right away for reserved guests, so I gave up. I really felt how popular this place is.

Cheese-filled bread before the meal

Before the main meal, Eoneu Dal served tasty bread. It felt like a milk roll, with moist cheese inside, and it was delicious.

The dishes started arriving one by one. Salad, pasta and pilaf, plus a refreshing pickle, made for a perfect spread.

How does Eoneu Dal's mushroom pilaf taste?

Eoneu Dal's mushroom pilaf (₩17,000) is a shrimp-based pilaf that's slightly spicy and full of smoky grill flavor. The aroma was great from the moment it landed on the table.

King oyster mushrooms with pretty grill marks were topped with plenty of fresh parsley. I worried it might be a bit heavy, but the mushrooms were pleasantly chewy, and with the parsley aroma, the savory shrimp base, a little spice and that smoky flavor, it was a delicious pilaf.

Eoneu Dal's shrimp salad: portion and taste

Eoneu Dal's shrimp salad (₩18,000) is a huge portion, and the shrimp aren't small either. You could really taste the basil pesto, so it was totally my kind of salad.

Marinated tomatoes, orange and mushrooms made a very harmonious combination, and eaten with the pilaf and pasta, it refreshed the palate. Do order the salad too.

How to enjoy the abalone basil pesto pasta of the month

Eoneu Dal's new pasta of the month, the abalone pasta (₩22,000), fills your mouth with the nutty taste of abalone and the aroma of basil pesto. It comes with lemon, and the staff told us that if you squeeze it on once you've eaten a fair amount and the pasta is cooling, the flavor gets even better.

So we squeezed it on about halfway through, and mmm, I understood right away what they meant. Can you see how tender the abalone is? It melted in my mouth.

Next time I'd like to try the blue crab risotto (꽃게리조또) the next table was eating. An older gentleman was enjoying it so much that if I hadn't been full, I might have added it.

Is Eoneu Dal in Pocheon worth a return visit?

Eoneu Dal is a taste my husband would definitely love too, so it's become my favorite place, and I want to come back with the family again and again and again. I'd love to call it a hidden Pocheon pasta spot, but it's already too famous to hide, so I'll just drop by whenever I have time. If you're looking for a Pocheon restaurant with a nice atmosphere, do visit Eoneu Dal.
