Seongsu ring workshop: ELIO couple rings sized for knuckles, Robenta
In short
Robenta Seongsu is a ring workshop near Exit 3 of Seongsu Station in Seoul, where visitors make their own silver rings from designs by a jewelry designer with 30 years of experience. A couple getting rings for the first time chose the ELIO design, got sizing advice that took their knuckles into account, shaped each other's rings in 4 steps, then spent 2 hours on a Seongsu date while the rings were finished. Robenta Seongsu's one-day class gives first-time couples expert sizing advice and the memory of making their rings by hand.

I'm back with a one-day class post after a really long time! I was looking at rings with my partner lately, and found a ring workshop in Seongsu where you can make high-end-looking silver rings yourself, so we went.

If you're a couple who loves making things by hand like we are, I really, really recommend this couple ring one-day class!
What kind of ring workshop is Robenta Seongsu?
Robenta (로벤타) is a place where you can choose from a variety of rings designed by a jewelry designer with 30 years of experience. The rings are made by your own hands, but you still get a pretty result, which is why we chose to visit. So let me record today's day out at Robenta, the ring workshop in Seongsu.

A sneak peek at the finished shot 📸
Where is Robenta Seongsu, and where can you park?
Robenta Seongsu is within a 5-minute walk of Seongsu Station Exit 3. It isn't far from the station and the way is easy, so it was simple to find.

It's on the 3rd floor of the NOT4NERD building.

There are 2 entrances to go up, and it's the one on the right side of the building! There's a signboard at the real estate office entrance. Just follow the signboard placed at the building entrance and head up.

The building has no parking lot of its own, so parking isn't provided. You'll need to use a nearby lot: Sejong Tower's lot right next to the building, or the Factorial Seongsu lot, a 10-minute walk away.
- Sejong Tower parking: ₩6,000 per hour
- Factorial Seongsu parking: ₩3,500 per hour
Neither is cheap, and Seongsu is a hard area to park in anyway, so I'd recommend public transport!
Booking Robenta Seongsu and the vibe inside the workshop
You can book through Naver reservation, and same-day booking is possible too. If the time you want is full, they say you can arrange a time by phone. Robenta Seongsu looked neat from the outside, and the inside is white and wood tones, with a really nice atmosphere.

We booked ahead on Naver. There are quite a lot of seats inside, so unless you're a group, I think same-day booking would work fine!
When you confirm the name and time of the reservation, they give a short explanation and let you pick a ring design. They step away so it doesn't feel pressuring, so we could choose comfortably, which I loved 🫶

The ring designs are so varied that we agonized over which to pick, and it took a while, haha.

How much do Robenta rings cost, including plating and engraving?
Prices at Robenta Seongsu differ by design: Edge, the simplest design, is ₩75,000, and LOVENTA, the main design, is ₩145,000.

Plating and engraving cost extra. Rose gold, black and gold plating are available, and engraving is possible up to 8 characters. I usually like rose gold, but the silver ring design was pretty enough that I didn't choose any plating.
There's an event where engraving is free if you write a Naver review! Our couple joined the review event and got our engraving for free ❤️
Can you try on couple ring designs before choosing?
At Robenta Seongsu you can try the rings on one by one before choosing a design, which was great. After looking at rings a few times, I started to think... how a ring looks on your own hand and how pretty the design is are two different things!
I usually prefer designs that are simple but with a little detail, and those features can end up looking too plain or too flashy once actually worn...! So you really have to try them on before choosing, and Robenta let us do that easily. (Me, who recently went to Jongno and could only see a few...)

The design above was pretty too, but... the one both my partner and I liked was "ELIO". We tried it on once and made the final decision!
Since it takes about 2 hours from making to finishing, you fill in your info, so write down the contact details where they can reach you and then tell the staff.

First couple rings: how is your ring size measured?
At Robenta Seongsu, once you choose a design they measure your ring size, and I liked that they checked carefully for each person's hand.

My partner's knuckles are a bit thick, but the fingers aren't as thick as the knuckles, so they asked whether the ring would be taken on and off often and helped decide the size. For first-time couples like us... they looked after things we wouldn't have known would be uncomfortable, with an expert's eye. Totally recommended for anyone ordering couple rings for the first time 👍
How silver rings are made at Robenta Seongsu
Once the ring size is measured, you move over to the seats where the rings are made.

Each seat at Robenta Seongsu has an apron, gloves and ring-making tools ready, plus a phone holder at every seat so you can film the process. A great item for recording the memory of making rings 🫶 You don't have to bring anything yourself, so I think it's perfect for couples who want to make a special memory!
Now let's start the ring-making experience. When you sit down, they prepare a basic ring form in each person's size. It still looks rough, chunky and not smooth at all. Now we file and polish it bit by bit to make it into a ring!

We decided to make each other's rings :) I took my partner's ring and got ready to shape it.
Step 1: Filing the sides of the ring
When you receive the ring, the outside is rough and not smooth, so you smooth the surface with a metal tool.

While being careful not to warp the ring's shape or change its thickness, you gently work the outside, and the uneven surface becomes flat and the ring takes on a slightly smoother look.

This step was quite hard, because you had to press the tool flat against the base, and that's harder than it sounds..! The tool kept lifting, and I was nervous the thickness would end up different top to bottom...
Step 2: Filing the top and bottom edges
Second, you switch tools and smooth the top and bottom faces. It's a bit more delicate than the previous step, and you use less force!

It's not about adjusting the thickness, but more like scraping off only the uneven parts on the top and bottom..! You push the ring gently.

Step 3: Sanding the sides
From the third step you use electric machines, and with the pedal under your foot you gently sand the inside and outside with sandpaper.

I worried that using machines might be a bit difficult, but they explained how to use it kindly and watched alongside us, so even we first-timers did well!

When you gently sand the inside and outside like this, you get a ring that's even smoother and cleaner than after the first side-smoothing.
Final step: Polishing the ring
The last step! On to polishing. You use the same machine, and just swapping the head tool turns it into a polishing tool. Hold the ring well and roll the side around and around, and the ring starts to shine.
Compare the left and right and you can clearly see the shine on the ring. From that original form we first received to a proper ring shape...! I felt so proud that I did it myself.
A 2-hour wait: things to do in Seongsu while the rings are finished
Once you've finished making the ring and decided on the engraving text, you're done! Then you wait about 2 hours for the ring by dating around Seongsu. They contact you when the ring is finished 2 hours later. There are lots of pop-up stores right in front of the building and plenty to look at, so the 2 hours flew by!
Finished ELIO couple rings and aftercare at Robenta Seongsu
After getting the call that the rings were done, back to Robenta we went! They gave the ring I had shaped a bit more polish and engraved it to finish. Did I really make this...? The rings came out so pretty! The finished rings are handed over in a ring case like this. The case is neat and so pretty too...
They also include ring care instructions, so I think we can wear them nicely for a long, long time. They give a polishing cloth like a single-use alcohol swab too, to use if the ring tarnishes or needs shine. If it tarnishes, you can visit for a free cleaning service, and they say A/S is available for life 🫶
Robenta Seongsu couple ring one-day class: final verdict
Today I recorded our day at LOVENTA in Seongsu, a unique date in Seongsu with my partner. Beyond the high-end designs, it was a date where we made happy memories together. The whole time we were making the rings, we worked hard thinking of each other, wondering how to make them even prettier for the other person ❤️ The one-day class teacher was kind and made sure we were never uncomfortable the whole way through, thanks to which we could enjoy the experience comfortably, another thing I loved about the class.

I recommend it to people who
- ✨ Want to make a high-end silver ring in a one-day class

- ✨ Want a unique date with a one-day class

So that wraps up my record of today's special Seongsu date at the ring workshop LOVENTA Seongsu.
