Boryeong sashimi shop that matches a 50,000-won budget: Nokdo Susan
In short
Nokdo Susan is a seasonal seafood and sashimi shop at Daecheonhang Fish Market in Boryeong, Chungnam, three minutes by car from Daecheon Beach. Asked to fit a flounder and rockfish set to a 50,000-won budget, Nokdo Susan pulled the fish straight from the tank, weighed them and packed the set for 55,000 won, adding free sea squirt, spicy fish stew ingredients and two dipping sauce sets. The slices were cut thin enough for an elementary-school child to eat, making Nokdo Susan a good last stop for takeout sashimi at the end of a Boryeong trip.

Where is Nokdo Susan? Three minutes from Daecheon Beach at Daecheonhang Fish Market
On the way home after wrapping up our Boryeong itinerary, since we were already at the coast, I decided to pick up some sashimi to go — my favorite thing to do. I stopped by Daecheonhang Fish Market, about three minutes from Daecheon Beach, to pack some up :-)

Daecheonhang Fish Market is really huge, but as soon as you walk in through the very first entrance, right on the left is stalls 57 and 58, Nokdo Susan. The owner was so kind and friendly, showing us the fresh catch himself, which I really liked.

A seasonal seafood specialist with nationwide delivery and holiday gift sets
Nokdo Susan, a sashimi shop at Daecheonhang, specializes in seasonal seafood. While waiting for our order, I stepped inside and saw half-dried fish, Chuseok holiday gift sets for next month, and nationwide delivery service.
There was such a variety of fresh seafood packed in *_* so many kinds that I ended up filming it. The tanks were clean and large, with sizes to suit any group or portion — great for packing exactly what you need.

There's also a price board posted, which is handy for reference, and if you name a price, they'll pack a set to match it!
In-season right now, look at these prawns, perfect for grilling! The size was genuinely off the charts, and they were still jumping around, so fresh. Anyone who needs prawns, head to Nokdo Susan at Daecheonhang ^___^* The pomfret was also brimming with energy and freshness. For a moment I considered going with pomfret instead, but my sashimi-loving kid wanted flounder and rockfish, so my eyes wandered elsewhere... haha.

Flounder and rockfish set for 55,000 won: name your budget and Nokdo Susan matches it
Flounder and rockfish also come in a range of sizes, and I asked for a flounder + rockfish set at ₩50,000, and they pulled it straight out of the tank and weighed it right there!

Flounder + rockfish, packed for ₩55,000. It was easy to carry around neatly, and the square box kept it steady and safe on the way home. They also threw in two sets of soy sauce, gochujang, and wasabi, so we had more than enough.

Wow ~ what a lovely color. It was sliced so evenly, and the flounder and rockfish were clearly separated too.

Free sea squirt and spicy fish stew ingredients with the order
They also gave us sea squirt as a free extra, and my seafood-loving husband was thrilled! No fishy taste at all, super fresh, with an ocean aroma that filled the mouth ~ absolutely amazing. Thank you so much ❤️

There was ice piled thick underneath the flounder and rockfish sashimi, keeping it fresh and cool to eat, and Nokdo Susan packed every cut carefully and thoroughly, filling every gap ❤️

How the sashimi tasted: sweet flounder and rockfish, cut thin enough for kids
The slices weren't too thin or too thick, just the right thickness for my elementary-age kid to eat comfortably, and I loved that. And honestly, it was so sweet!! No fishy taste at all, chewy and sweet, we were busy just eating. I eat sashimi often because I love it, and this was, freshness aside, some of the best-tasting flounder and rockfish I've had in a while, texture and flavor both.
If you want to know what people mean by 'sweet sashimi,' head to Nokdo Susan at Daecheonhang ^_^) My second kid really loves sashimi, but my first will only eat it if it's around ~ yet even the first one didn't put the chopsticks down and kept saying it was delicious to the end! It opened their eyes to sashimi *_*

We enjoyed the sea squirt they gave us for free, and when they asked if we wanted stew ingredients, they packed those too, so we boiled up a spicy fish stew. The owner was so kind and warm, no pushy sales tactics at all, happy to answer any questions, and the packing was neat! Freshly caught, weighed, and sliced the moment we ordered — how could it not taste amazing? >.< If you're on a Boryeong or Daecheon trip and craving sashimi, clams, squid, seasonal catch, or a travel gift, why not head to Nokdo Susan at Daecheonhang?
