Hanam baby octopus restaurant after Icheon hot springs: 5pm dinner
In short
Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a baby octopus (jjukkumi) restaurant in a detached house on Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil in Hanam, Gyeonggi. On the way back from Icheon Seolbong Hot Spring, the family arrived just after 5pm, before the crowds, and ordered the perilla-oil jjukkumi set meal for two plus a kids' seafood pajeon (seafood pancake) made without cheongyang chili peppers. With big pieces of baby octopus, jujube and sweet pumpkin stone-pot rice and seaweed soup, Jigueseo On Jjukkumi suits a three-generation family meal.

Coming from Icheon Seolbong hot spring, all soaked and craving something spicy, we stopped by Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch for baby octopus.

Where is Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam, and when is it open?

We stopped by on the way home after bathing in the hot spring water at Icheon Seolbong, and after driving through a bit of busy road, there was this quiet restaurant sitting there!! Starfield is nearby too~ Jjukkumi is the main thing, but from what I saw at another table, the monkfish stew looked good too.

Ooh, corn?
It's a whole detached building!

Takeout is ₩10,000 per serving ㅠㅠ If it were near my place, I'd probably get takeout all the time.
Detached building, garden and photo zone
Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a detached house with a garden, so it has this quiet feel like you've gone somewhere out in the countryside~

There's a photo zone too~

There's a handwashing spot at the entrance, which is great!

Dessert coffee~

There's ice cream too~

If you write a receipt review you can also get Hangang ramyeon! We had already eaten ramyeon at the jjimjilbang so we skipped it! A bit of a shame ㅠㅠ

Perilla oil!!!
How busy is Jigueseo On Jjukkumi at 5pm?
The chairs are interesting~ The seats are spacious so it's comfortable! I noticed a lot of three-generation families coming, parents, kids, and grandparents.
When our family eats out, we head to the restaurant a little after 5pm. It's less crowded that way. By the time we finished eating, the place was almost full.
You could see the garden outside, which made it feel so pleasant and airy.
Nice and clean~

Perilla-oil jjukkumi set meal ₩13,000, extra stone-pot rice ₩2,000
We ordered through touch-order~ The perilla-oil jjukkumi set meal is really a steal at ₩13,000. It comes with stone-pot rice too, and this rice is genuinely sticky and delicious. Extra is only ₩2,000 ㅠㅠ If I weren't already full I would have ordered more.

If we hadn't been driving, I would've ordered the monkfish stew~
Whoa, extra stone-pot rice for ₩2,000, unbelievable
There's cod stew too~

Eating with kids: ask for seafood pajeon without cheongyang chili
We ordered a seafood pajeon (seafood pancake) for our little one~ The pajeon has cheongyang chili peppers in it, so you have to ask them to leave it out.
These days everything's ₩5,000, huh
Seaweed soup and side dishes with the set meal
The side dishes are set out~ A big bowl of seaweed soup comes out, good for sharing. The seaweed soup was delicious. Whoa, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), salted pollock roe, jellyfish salad too? I think they accidentally gave us two salads haha

The pollock roe was tasty and the kimchi was nice and refreshing~ You could get full just eating the stone-pot rice with these side dishes haha

Water for the stone-pot rice scorched rice tea~

The perilla oil for mixing with the jjukkumi~ Fragrant and delicious.

Wow! True to a jjukkumi restaurant, the octopus pieces are big. If you're ordering for a kid to eat, you have to ask them to leave out the cheongyang chili.

The pajeon had such a big piece of octopus in it. Whoa.
How big is the jjukkumi set for two, and how does it taste?
Finally the jjukkumi arrives~
It's a two-person portion, but since the octopus pieces are big, the amount feels generous. You can cut it small with scissors and pick at it, or mix it into the rice with the sauce and perilla oil — genuinely delicious either way. If only this were in my neighborhood...

The stone-pot rice with jujube and sweet pumpkin is really tasty too. I might try making this at home — I'm really into stone-pot rice these days. Scraping the bottom and eating the nurungji (scorched rice) is warm and comforting too~
Is jjukkumi normally this tender? It's really soft. If they had a non-spicy salt-and-perilla-oil version instead of the spicy sauce, I would've ordered it for my little one. A bit disappointing.
Wow, it's been a while since I had spicy stir-fried jjukkumi like this~

Mixing in the perilla oil makes it genuinely fragrant and delicious.

Who is Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam good for?
The jjukkumi disappeared before we knew it, and the nurungji was warm and nicely made~ We ate really well. There are plenty of restaurants at Starfield, but if you're not a fan of crowds, this place is good for that out-of-town feeling! Feed the kids seaweed soup, side dishes, and stone-pot rice and they'll be comfortable. It would be even better if there were a jjukkumi menu made for kids. It would also be great as a lunch spot for a work gathering, since it feels like you've come out of the city!
Took a look at the garden out front before we left~ Ate well, thanks!
