Evening café in Gujwa, Jeju with sunset pond photos: Sigan-eul Damda
In short
Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa is a café built around a water garden pond at 20-1 Pyeongdae7-gil in Gujwa-eup, Jeju. During a caravan camping trip, the writer stopped by after dinner, a little past 7pm, folded paper boats to float on the pond, and ordered a made-to-order carrot tteok cake (rice cake) with a matcha latte and a vanilla latte. Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa still makes a lovely pond-side photo backdrop as the sun goes down, and it's a great Jeju café for an evening visit with kids.

Anyone looking to grab great Jeju photos, welcome! : )
We were caravan camping around Gujwa-eup on our Jeju trip, and after a delicious dinner we stopped by this dreamy Jeju café on our own. Wow... it's really lovely! The owner was so kind, and the coffee and desserts were amazing!!!
Best of all... you can float sentimental paper boats or wish lanterns on the pond (there's a water garden!). Highly recommend if you want to make some memories!
Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa: location, hours and parking
Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa is located at 20-1 Pyeongdae7-gil, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, and it's open Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 21:00 (last order 20:30). It's closed Wednesday and Thursday, and hours may change depending on internal maintenance, so keep that in mind! : )
We parked right in front (we were pretty much the last customers!), and I heard about 5 cars can park there — just so you know!!!
A pond (water garden) that's still bright at 7pm
The biggest feature of Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa is the water garden pond in front of the café. The moment my husband saw the pond he started goofing around haha. We got there past 7pm after dinner and it was still bright out! So the pond area was full of gorgeous, dreamy vibes!
We folded paper boats with the kids and floated them. Boat-folding paper is free — floating wish lanterns seems to cost extra.
Enjoying it with kids (folding and floating boats)

The inside of the café felt really cozy yet bright — the ceiling decorations were so pretty! The careful details everywhere made Sigan-eul Damda shine even more, don't you think?!
There was paper for folding boats, so we checked the instructions and folded boats in different colored paper. The kids were so excited to float their paper boats on the pond!

Somehow it turned into paper-folding time haha. A sweet, loving family paper-folding moment! : )

The boats don't drift away — they just stay near the pond's edge, and it seems the owner cleans them up later.

On our kids' first trip to Jeju, we each made a wish while floating our family's paper boats on this beautiful pond (water garden) — we really made some memories, haha!
A romantic, super-popular café

A place full of childlike wonder and romance! Sigan-eul Damda's interior is really my style, haha.

There's a cute dol hareubang (stone grandfather statue) too, haha, and there's even a seat with a view of the pond!
I loved all the little decor pieces too!

They also sell various products, so we browsed a bit too.
Through what looked like a passageway, there was a pension called Yeoyureul Damda! It's run together with Sigan-eul Damda café, and now I'm curious about that place too, haha.
Great photos even as the sun was setting
Inside the café there were examples posted showing how to take dreamy photos at the photo spot — I shot mine as the sun was going down, but I still got a great solo shot, haha!

My husband took the photos so carefully, and the background was just gorgeous, haha!
Wow, so much romance — we really enjoyed this unique Jeju café!
Ordering Sigan-eul Damda's signature menu

I'd heard Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa has a genuinely delicious dessert made to order (which is why no takeout is allowed?!) — that was actually part of why we came!!!

It's the carrot tteok cake! I was so curious about this one!!!!
We ordered it along with some delicious drinks. They really do make it fresh to order, and they warned us it would be hot!!

Carrot tteok cake, soft like baekseolgi (steamed white rice cake)
The pretty dishes finally arrived — ah, they looked so good just sitting there, and then the moment we took a bite!!!!
Wow... it was so delicious we couldn't stop eating the carrot tteok cake!!! Me, one bite — my husband, one bite — the kids, one bite each — we just kept taking turns, haha. It was warm, soft, and even more delicious for it!!!! My husband said it felt a bit like soft baekseolgi (steamed white rice cake), and when I asked the owner, they confirmed it! A dessert made to taste like baekseolgi!!! I'd never had a dessert like this before... (I want to eat it again but there's nothing like it in Seoul, ㅠㅠ)

The matcha latte and vanilla latte were also really good!!!! (If you're heading toward Sehwa, definitely stop by!)
A Jeju café I'd love to visit again

My husband took photos of me and the kids too — the pink outfits matched Sigan-eul Damda's interior vibe so well, I was really happy with them!
We didn't plan our outfits in advance... just lucky, haha (which meant we got some pretty photos too!)
There were even picture books related to Pyeongdae — we took a quick look through them too. After dinner, it was a relaxed, dreamy café outing where we really felt Jeju.
