Jeju Gujwa café with walnut cake and Passion in Rose: Sigan-eul Damda
In short
Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa (시간을담다 구좌점) is a dessert café on Pyeongdae 7-gil in Gujwa-eup, Jeju, near Sehwa Beach. On a break from a Jeju trip, the writer ordered a Passion in Rose (6,500 won), an iced matcha latte (6,500 won) and a Malenka walnut cake (6,300 won), and the cake was dense, fudgy and richly nutty. With a water garden outside, lavender-toned flower decor inside and plenty of photo spots, Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa is a good place to rest during a Jeju trip.

Today I'm introducing a Gujwa café I stopped by because I needed a little breather on my Jeju trip! ☕️🤍 It's Sigan-eul Damda (시간을담다), a dessert spot near Sehwa Beach where both the drinks and the cake were delicious.

Jeju Sehwa café Sigan-eul Damda, a café in Sehwa-ri/Pyeongdae-ri, Gujwa-eup (Gujwa dessert favorite) / Mon, Tue, Fri–Sun 12:00–21:00 (* closed every Wed and Thu)

Where do you park at Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa?
There's a private parking lot right in front of the café. It fits about 2–3 cars 🚗

The water garden and paper boat activity out front
There's a small pebble pond in front of the café, and you can get some great photos here, hehe (you can even cross the water along a stone path).

They call the little pond in front of the café a water garden. You can also float a free paper boat on it, so do check it out!

Inside, decorated with lavender-toned flowers
The inside of Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa is decorated with pretty lavender-like flowers! It's a space where flowers and nature blend together, so every photo comes out lovely however you shoot it. It's not just the water garden: the interior is full of photo spots too, so it's perfect for anyone who loves taking pictures.
The 2nd floor also runs as a stay (guesthouse) in Sehwa! It's right next to Sehwa Beach, so if you're interested, go ahead and book.

What I ordered and the prices
Here's what I picked from the Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa menu that day.
- Passion in Rose (6.5, i.e. ₩6,500)
- Iced matcha latte (6.5, i.e. ₩6,500)
- Malenka walnut cake (6.3, i.e. ₩6,300)

Here are the desserts! They only stock cakes that are properly tasty. I wanted to try the mini carrot cake too, but sadly it was sold out that day, so I picked another cake, hehe.

How the Passion in Rose and iced matcha latte tasted
Ta-da! When your drinks are ready, they let you know with a buzzer. The drinks, exclusive to this Jeju café, looked so pretty >< haha. They also put dried green mandarin (cheonggyul) on top of the cake, which made it look even more appetizing.
If you order a cordial menu item, they give you a little reference booklet! I wondered what the word meant, and it was so nice of them to explain it like this, hehe.
🌹 Passion in Rose
The name was already so pretty, and the drink looked really pretty too .. >< A faint rose scent spreads, and the tang of passion fruit adds to it, making a fragrant, refreshing ade! It wasn't too sweet, so it was easy to drink, and I could adjust the syrup myself, so I got the sweetness just how I like it.
🍵 Iced matcha latte
The matcha flavor comes through strongly, so I think matcha lovers will really like it! The bitter matcha and the smoothness of the milk blended well and the balance was good. It's a sweetish matcha latte, and my boyfriend said he really enjoyed it, hehe.
How was the Malenka walnut cake?
The Malenka walnut cake (₩6,300) was the dessert I personally enjoyed most at Sigan-eul Damda Gujwa! The moist yet dense texture was so appealing, and it was packed with Malenka walnuts, so the nutty flavor came through really richly .. >< haha.
A sweet honey aroma rises faintly, so it goes really well with coffee or a matcha latte. It's just one slice, but it's heavier than you'd expect, so it was quite satisfying ~~~ hehe.

It looked like they also sell cute little goods at the table area off to the side.

Is it worth a stop on a Sehwa or Gujwa trip?
Overall, a Jeju Sehwa café I was happy with: the drinks were tasty and the dessert quality was good. Above all, the atmosphere is calm and sentimental, so it's a great place to rest during a trip. The owner was also kind, which made it even better. If you're passing through Gujwa or Sehwa, I recommend dropping by! 😊✨💜
