I'm the type who only books waxing once the pain has faded into a rosy memory, haha. I was meeting a friend in Gangnam and ended up with an awkward gap of time, so I figured out what to do with it — went and got waxed near Gangnam Station.

What I liked right away was that same-day booking was possible. I'm an unplanned kind of person — when I feel like doing something I want to do it right then, haha. My usual waxing place was such a hassle to book sometimes, which annoyed me.

And then the waxing space I was shown to. A lot of places just draw a blind across one room for couples getting waxed together, but here at Super Waxing the rooms are separated by partition walls — open at the top but still divided — so couples can wax near each other but apart, close in sound, ha ha ha.

Personally, I found it less nerve-wracking and kind of fun being able to hear what was happening outside my room.

Disposable hygiene sheets on the bed

Another thing I liked was the disposable hygiene sheets, which meant I didn't have to worry about cleanliness at all!! Apparently some places still quietly reuse this kind of thing these days.

I stored my belongings on the hanger beside the bed and changed into the provided skirt.

And a cute stuffed animal will protect me… honestly I hadn't been waxed in a while so I was really nervous, ㅠㅠ. The director handed me a cute stuffed animal to hold, haha. It was huge and I loved it.

Hard waxing vs sugaring: how different does it feel?

Up until now I'd only ever gotten sugaring. But a friend I used to go waxing with had tried hard wax and came back saying it genuinely didn't hurt at all.

Sugaring is like melted sugar, sticky like honey — and if you can picture it, that stickiness grips your hairs and pulls as it sets, so even before it's peeled off you're already tensing up and it really hurts, ㅠㅠㅠ. But with hard wax, it's applied and then peeled off in one clean motion, and I'm not exaggerating — the pain was less than a third of that.

How long a Brazilian wax takes at Super Waxing Gangnam

The Brazilian wax I got at Super Waxing Gangnam genuinely finished in under 10 minutes. Honestly this part depends a lot on who's doing the technique, and my director happened to look like a total pro.

Sure enough, she made small talk to distract me while she waxed quickly and painlessly 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻. I had a tight schedule with my friend that day, but somehow, even with the soothing pack included, it took under 30 minutes.

Aftercare once the Brazilian wax is done

For aftercare, minimize irritation for about two days!! Basics like swimming, saunas, and drinking should be avoided, along with tight clothing or friction.

Personally, taking into account the director's skill, the level of pain, and the price, I was really satisfied with this Gangnam waxing salon, Super Waxing.

How often to get a Brazilian wax

Apparently the ideal cycle for Brazilian waxing is every 4 weeks. I don't always manage to keep to it, ㅠㅠㅠ, but if you do, they say the hair count decreases and gets thinner. And most importantly, it hurts a lot less!!

For aftercare, scrub exfoliation and moisturizing are key!! That's what prevents ingrown hairs and folliculitis, so waxing scrub and hydration are essential!! Noted.
