What is the atmosphere like inside Yongyong Seonsaeng?

The moment we walked into Yongyong Seonsaeng Yongin Yeokbuk Branch, the atmosphere caught our eye — a whole different level from a typical Chinese-style bar.

The red lighting and distinctive interior felt like a high-end restaurant. We booked ahead through Naver Reservation for 6:30 p.m. and headed over.

On the table at our reserved seat at Yongyong Seonsaeng Yongin Yeokbuk Branch was a handwritten letter along with a fun little lottery event. Seeing the reserved seating we'd been shown, we were surprised by the service — way beyond what we expected!

On top of that, there was neatly sanitized cutlery, an apron, and wet wipes as standard — and thoughtfully, even hangover remedy sitting there. We felt like they genuinely cared about their guests even before the food arrived, which put both my boyfriend and me in a great mood. Just what you'd expect from a Yeokbuk-dong favorite that pays attention to the details :)

The variety of baijiu is wider than at other Chinese places too! This isn't just a spot to drink at — it's closer to a Chinese restaurant serving up impressive dishes.

We went with one of the signature dishes, rosé mala xiangguo (spicy numbing hot pot), plus soy sauce egg fried rice and ganpung fried chicken as sides, and ordered a Yantai tonic set for drinks.

The Yantai tonic set came out first — the pineapple aroma unique to baijiu plus the refreshing fizz of tonic water. Filling a big glass with ice and mixing it in the right ratio made it taste like a sweet soda drink!!

This would be great for people who usually find strong-smelling alcohol off-putting, or for baijiu beginners!

Rosé mala xiangguo

The main dish, rosé mala xiangguo!! The numbing spiciness of mala combined with a nutty, smooth cream

made it addictively delicious even for a mala beginner like me. There were so many toppings too, so we ate super satisfied :) I'm definitely getting this again next time... ㅜ

Soy sauce egg fried rice

And the dish I want to strongly recommend above all is the soy sauce egg fried rice! The grains are fried with a hint of smoky wok-hei, and dipping them in the spicy rosé mala xiangguo sauce is just addictive... ㅜ

Ganpung fried chicken

The ganpung fried chicken we ordered extra is also one of our favorite drinking snacks. Crispy outside, moist inside — the textbook definition of 'crispy outside, juicy inside.' ㅜ The savory yet spicy-sweet sauce soaks into the chicken so well it's still tasty even cold!

Who is Yongyong Seonsaeng best for?

Personally, I thought it works perfectly as a more formal date spot, and there's nowhere better for enjoying Chinese food with friends you haven't seen in a while. This isn't just a place to go drinking — it's a Yeokbuk-dong favorite that gave us the satisfaction of finishing a fine meal at a high-quality Chinese restaurant.
