Paju bakery salt bread 3+1 with butter and roe potato: Boulangerie Tan
In short
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is a salt bread bakery on the first floor of Farm Tower in Unjeong, Paju. With the salt bread 3+1 deal, the writer took home 3 gourmet butter salt breads and 1 pollack roe potato salt bread, plus a vanilla cornet pie and a hazelnut choco cornet pie for the kids. The crisp-outside, soft-inside gourmet butter salt bread and the generously filled roe potato salt bread show why Boulangerie Tan is known as Unjeong's go-to salt bread spot.

I heard a tasty new bakery had opened in Unjeong, Paju, so I went to check out Boulangerie Tan (블랑제리 탄). I really love salt bread, so my expectations were high, and the moment I walked in, the smell of freshly baked bread filled the place and put me in a good mood.

A Paju Unjeong bakery, Boulangerie Tan, recommended for its 3+1 salt bread~~
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch: location, parking and hours
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is on the first floor of Farm Tower in Unjeong, Paju.

It's in the building right next to Farm Smart, the one with Ashley, and free parking registration is available! Parking was easy~

Inside Boulangerie Tan and the menu lineup

Inside, there's not just salt bread but a wide range of bakery items and desserts on display, and it was hard to decide what to pick. The neat displays and appetizing look made browsing one by one fun, too.

They sell coffee and drinks too~~

The French baguette looked appetizing, as a signature item should, and during brunch time there's a discount if you buy a sandwich + coffee.

Boulangerie Tan 3+1 salt bread: what I picked
Salt bread is 3+1 at Boulangerie Tan, so I chose 3 gourmet butter salt breads and 1 roe potato salt bread (myeongran gamja, made with salted pollock roe). I could grab the items I'd been wanting to try without any pressure, which made me really happy. For dessert I also bought a vanilla cornet pie and a hazelnut choco cornet pie, and being able to enjoy a variety of flavors made it an even better choice.

I heard Boulangerie Tan uses Lescure Charentes-Poitou AOP butter. There was sample bread too~

There's a good variety of sandwiches and they looked so delicious. Next time I'm going to try the jambon-beurre (ham and butter sandwich).

The croissants and loaf breads looked tasty too.

How do the vanilla and hazelnut choco cornet pies taste?
I thought the kids would like Boulangerie Tan's cornet pies, so I tried vanilla and choco.

The vanilla cornet pie was packed with soft, sweet vanilla cream inside a crispy pie shell. The cream wasn't cloying, just pleasantly sweet, so it was perfect with coffee, and with every bite the crunch and the smooth cream went well together.
The hazelnut choco cornet pie blended the sweetness of chocolate with the nutty aroma of hazelnut. It was filled with plenty of rich chocolate cream, so chocolate lovers should be satisfied, and it was even better with the crispy pie.

Is the gourmet butter salt bread worthy of being Boulangerie Tan's signature?
The gourmet butter salt bread, Boulangerie Tan's signature item, had a really impressive texture: crisp outside, moist inside. With the first bite, the rich flavor of gourmet butter filled my mouth, and a subtle saltiness kept me reaching for more.
The butter wasn't overpowering, and it was plain yet nutty, the kind of salt bread anyone, of any age, would like. Since the basic salt bread is this good, even a bunch of them disappeared in no time.

Why the roe potato salt bread stayed with me most
Personally, the roe potato salt bread at Boulangerie Tan was the most memorable item. It had a generous amount of salty roe and soft potato, the nutty flavor came alive the more I chewed, and it paired really well with the salt bread.
It was so well filled that it could stand in for a meal, and the savory umami of the roe made it even more enjoyable.

Is it worth recommending as an Unjeong, Paju salt bread spot?
After trying it myself, I could tell right away why Boulangerie Tan is famous as an Unjeong salt bread spot. Both the basic salt bread and the roe potato salt bread were very well made, and the cornet pies were satisfying too, so I want to try other breads next time.
If you're looking for a good bakery in Unjeong, Paju, I recommend stopping by Boulangerie Tan to try the freshly baked salt bread and a variety of desserts.
