Cheongna eel and beef buffet A Set where sirloin won: Jangsodam

Today's restaurant is an eel place in Cheongna: Jangsodam Eel and Beef Buffet! Eel, of course, but also beef, pork and dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), all in one all-you-can-eat buffet. Let's jump right in.

Jangsodam Eel and Beef Buffet Cheongna Main Branch is at 10-17 Jungbong-daero 612beon-gil, Seo-gu, Incheon, South Korea, in Canalway in Cheongna 1-dong, and it is open daily 11:00–23:00. Parking is available in the building.

Is Jangsodam good for family meals and group dinners?

The inside of Jangsodam is very spacious and pleasant, so it works well for family meals and group dinners. There's even a kids' playroom, which makes it perfect for eating out with children!

Jangsodam set menus and prices

The menu runs from set menus to single dishes, and this time I ordered the A Set for two (₩39,000 per person). Here's what each set includes.

• A Set: all-you-can-eat freshwater eel, 6 beef cuts, pork, dakgalbi
• B Set: all-you-can-eat freshwater eel, chuck short rib, pork, dakgalbi
• C Set: all-you-can-eat 6 beef cuts, pork, dakgalbi
• D Set: all-you-can-eat pork, dakgalbi

Eel and beef refills are ordered at a kiosk, while pork and dakgalbi are set out at the self-bar.

What meats are at the Jangsodam self-bar meat corner?

At Jangsodam, the eel and beef are brought to your table, while the self-bar meat corner has pork belly, pork neck, pork skin, sausages, spicy dakgalbi, teriyaki dakgalbi, salt-grilled chicken, tteok-galbi (grilled short rib patties), traditional galbi and fruit-aged galbi.

The pork is raw, and as you can see, the quality was really good! (Spoiler: I was so full from the eel and beef that I couldn't eat the pork, and I still regret it. Sob.)

What's on the Jangsodam self-bar

Next up, the self-bar! There's chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage) and dotorimuk (acorn jelly).

Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), mapo tofu and tomato pasta.

Dubu-kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi) and assorted fried food.

There's also steamed rice, cabbage salad, mushrooms and green onions for grilling, enoki mushrooms, potatoes and sweet potatoes. Fried dishes like tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), cream shrimp and chicken are fried fresh when you order them at the kiosk.

Plenty of lettuce wraps and leafy greens, kimchi varieties, pickled perilla leaves, ginger and so on.

Unlimited Hangang-style ramyeon, drinks and ice cream

And my favorite part!! Hangang ramyeon (instant noodles cooked in a pot) is included in the all-you-can-eat at Jangsodam. The ramyeon selection is huge: Jin Ramen, Buldak Bokkeummyeon, Jjapaghetti, Teumsae Ramyun, Ansung Tangmyun, Yeul Ramyun and more.

Soda, plum tea, coffee and ice cream are free too! The self-bar is really well stocked, isn't it?

Kiosk fried food and the A Set's free marinated crab: how were they?

Besides the little tasting plates from the self-bar, I ordered chicken and tangsuyuk at the kiosk! They come out freshly fried, so they were crispy and delicious.

I also got the marinated crab (gejang) that you can order once for free with the A Set. I ordered it with no expectations, but it blew away specialty restaurants... I'll admit it's a marinated crab hotspot 👍

A Set first plate: Japonica freshwater eel and 6 beef cuts

The A Set's first plate comes with Japonica freshwater eel and six prime-grade beef cuts (beef short plate, chuck short rib, sirloin, flap meat, chuck flap tail, rib finger meat). You have to finish the first plate before you can order more, and the amount is huge, haha.

First, the eel and chuck short rib go on the grill. Look at how the eel fills the whole grill, so big, right? Maybe because it's domestic Japonica freshwater eel, these are large and really plump.

While the eel cooks, I started with the chuck short rib. It's prime grade, so it was very tender and full of juice!

An eel look that's guaranteed delicious even before you taste it.

How did the Jangsodam freshwater eel taste?

The plump eel was cooked perfectly! Jangsodam's freshwater eel was rich and tender with no off smell, and the quality and flavor were so good I wondered if this was really all-you-can-eat.

The day's best beef: sirloin

Next I grilled the sirloin. The best of Jangsodam's beef that day was the sirloin!! So tender it melted in my mouth. I also happily ate the fatty beef short plate, then kept charging through the rest of the beef.

It's prime grade, so the beef aroma and juiciness were just so good. I should be refilling the beef... but I'm already full, which is a crisis.

Yeul Ramyun when full, then half an eel to finish

When you hit the crisis point, boil some Yeul Ramyun!! Jangsodam is a ramyeon hotspot too, lol.

This is the half eel I refilled. When you add eel you can choose a whole eel or half, and half is this size... I finished it all the way to the end 🤩
